No fishies on my toes, thanks!!! My toes are too ticklish for me to have a pedicure. This is a sad, hereditary condition. My two sisters and I have "sisterfest" weekends from time to time since we all live in different states, and once we decided to give each other pedicures. Well, that didn't go over well because we did nothing but giggle because of the ticklish thing. It was fun anyway! LOL

Victor - we spent a lot of time in the NC mountains when I was a child, and then I lived in Charlotte and Greensboro for several years after college. NC is like 3 different states (mountains, piedmont, coast) but it's a hike to drive from the mountains to the coast. My sister now lives in the mountains and we'll be stopping there on our way back to NH. Love it there!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Have you ever tried to have a pedi? Just curious because I have super ticklish feet and I thought I wouldn't be able to stand it. Surprisingly I did fine, I did warn the first girl, just in case I kicked her or something! lol At least I worked with her so it wouldn't have been as bad if I had.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not yet.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I talked my dh into getting one with me the day we got married. shhh don't tell anyone. ;)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Condition for getting married???

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

Today Mom & I were talking about living in different areas of the country.
We decided we're pretty happy where we are.
This is mainly due to the fact that we don't have extremes of weather related or natural events.

The west coast has all those fires, mud slides and earthquakes.
Northern states... too much snow
SE & coastal... hurricanes
Middle states... I don't want to live anywhere known as "Tornado Alley"! YIKES!

Sure, we have experienced all of these events at one time or another - but it's not a regular thing.

Nancy

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's very true, Nancy. The upper midwest has to be the worst. They get tornadoes, extremes of hot and cold AND lots of snow! No thanks.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Nancy, I've concluded the exact same thing. Even though I absolutely hate the winters here- which aren't even THAT bad, since I'm on the coast- there are too many cons in just about all the other regions of the country. Besides all the natural disasters some of them are prone to, I absolutely cannot stand huge bugs or dangerous animals roaming all over the place. (snakes, alligators, mountain lions, etc.) So it looks like I'm here for good. I just wish I had somewhere else to go for the months of Jan- April.

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

The worst time of the year for me in this area is... RIGHT NOW!
It's spring, sure... but it's early spring... and COLD.
The bulbs are coming up (and in some cases, blooming), the buds are swelling and the perennials are sprouting.
But it's COLD!
March & April are SO frustrating. I want to get things going - but it's COLD!
I'm getting antsy. I want to start my garden - but it's too COLD!

Nancy
btw... did I mention..... I"M COLD!!!!!
:oP

Aurora, ON(Zone 5b)

Actually, like the high seasonality of where I am.
Go from the snowdrops and species crocus (just starting) to azure monkshood and hardy mums. Between the beginning and the end, at least several hundred different perennial cultivars and selections bloom and our northern climate makes this possible.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

I'm dying to get out there, too. My beds are covered with oak leaves , pinecones, and acorns that dropped in the fall that I just left there. I really want to clean them up, but I fear it's too soon. This feels like the longest winter ever (even though I know that *technically* it's Spring). I think the crocus' will open in the next few days.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am so with you Gabby

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Victor my dh has awfully cute feet for a man, he even gets compliments about them lol. Otherwise it would have been a condition! ha ha We eloped so we didn't do the traditional - groom can't see the bride thing. We spent the day together getting pedis, manis and a massage by the ocean. He even zipped up my dress. : ) I would never be able to get him to do the first two again! He is a manly man he he

As much as I would love to be some where warmer I have to agree with gabagoo. That is one reason I haven't actually left - that and my family. Plus my aunt that lived in Naples FL for years says she is envious of all the plants we can grow here. So I guess some times the grass is always greener some where else.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So what are you saying, Nancy?

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

[[[[[[Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr]]]]]]]

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Meredith, I so wish my DH would get one, just one manicure, so he can see what his nails and cuticles are SUPPOSED to look like. Pedi, forget about it. He might have canceled the wedding if that were a condition. He is WAY too manly or sensitive or something.

Nancy, I'm with you and Celeste. It looks spring-y, it smells okay, but I'm still wearing gloves and scarves or hats. Not warm enough yet. And of course, in a three or four months, we'll be complaining about the heat.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Carrie that's funny. : ) I was very surprised when mine agreed to it. He ended up enjoying it too. Maybe emphasize the point that there is a hand and foot massage involved in the process. I never realized how good it could feel to have them massaged but it is very nice. : ) Oh and I think you have to be on vacation too. That way he won't have a chance of one of his buddies catching him! lol

Talking about feet: I met my husband in 1986 and he said no one EVER MESSES with my feet. Well we moved in toghather and one night he went to sleep before me. I thought humm no one ever messes with my feet.

So the next morning he got up and sat on the john and looked down and saw bright red toenails. I could hear him cackling.

Next he goes out in the kitchen to make coffee and he looks down and thinks hes got a cut on his hand. Well all his finger nails were painted bright red also.

Next there was a note on the counter say: Oops - sorry out of nail polish remover.

Next there is a phone call at his work asking him to take off his shoes and socks for the guys at work.

Long story short I was on the short list but still today we laugh at it.

I just realized where I'd LOVE to garden....Hawaii!!!!!! If i could afford to move there I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Who wouldn't?!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Victoria, British Columbia - zone 8/9 They have Madrona trees (a kind of arbutus) and even grow hardy palm trees!

Mild winters - flowers start with winter blooming camilias in late January and February, then in Feb and March the early spring bulbs, roses continue to bloom sometimes until mid-December - and all with mild summers and no excessive humidity! Downtime (gardenwise) is basically Nov- January.

The other cool thing is - Victoria gets much less rain than Vancouver or Seattle.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Love the no humidity part.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
