I'm thinking about raising, Aspidistra elatior Variegata, in Florida, does anyone have experience, in hot humid climates, with Aspidistra, Thanks Ed
Aspidistra elatior Variegata
I think you will have us stumped on this forum. Cast Iron plants are not related to lilies (Lilium).
Perhaps the Florida gardening forum will have your anwer.
more than one website list it as Liliaceae, http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/PlantFinder/plant.asp?code=B579 http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/interiorscape/Aspidistra_elatior_Var.html http://www.learn2grow.com/plantdatabase/plants/plantdetails.aspx?PlantID=e0aa3e30-ddca-46cb-80a5-5d1c23f1c1ff http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/EP147, I didn't think it was a lily either, but it used to be, but how could you know that, Ed
I see: formerly Lilaceae. But you're right, I didn't even know that. I much prefer the variegata form of Aspidistra over the others I've seen with yellow speckling.
Peaked in on your blog and on another note, I am curious to know if you have any data/anecdotal experience of scaling with STIM-root #1 vs. no hormone treatment. And what is the active ingredient(s) in STIM-root? And have you seen differences in hormone use regarding different Lilium species or species parentage?
Very nice sites you have there.
Rick
