raised flower bed ok for lilies?

Brooklyn Park, MN(Zone 4a)

hello me and my guy moved into our new home and now that spring is here i am going to need to transplant my old garden -which is mainly lilies.i know it would probaly be best to move it in the fall but the parents want it out of there yard so... i am thinking of making a raised bed to put them in,would this be ok?i dont think i think i wont put my monsters in there though(they grew almost 6ft tall).i have so many tree roots in my yard from 3 silver maples(we cut them down) ,i also hate ripping out grass.well let me know your ideas..i think i would put some kind of barrier on the bottom to keep moles out.here's a pic of what i got down last fall.this garden is huge-mainly trees-shrubs/bird garden.

Raised beds should be just fine. :) We will want to see pictures when they bloom this spring! :)

squeenbeez - now you have a great opportunity to design what you really want - a blank canvas! I might suggest that you incorporate your shrubs into the overall design of your garden. They look a little lonesome sitting our by themselves. Don't move them, just bring your raised beds out to include them. Undulating borders give a more natural result and is visually more pleasing. Unless you love all your neighbors, I would be exploring options to break up the sight lines between your yard and theirs. Some possible ways - fencing, tall plantings, small linear trees. Ride around your neighborhood and I bet you will find a multitude of ideas to "borrow". It's much easier to develop your own style from scratch than to try to renovate an older established garden to fit your ideas. Keep us up to date with pictures. Also, think "water feature". Great fun and adds a completely and relaxing different element to your garden. You know , of course, your garden will never be finished! New plants come out every year and a few of last year's plants will somehow "disappear". Then too, you taste will change as time goes by and you learn what works and what does no! Happy gardening!!!!!!!!
