Wild azalea-rank beginner

Pelzer, SC(Zone 7b)

Good Morning,
Last spring I found what I think is a wild azalea in the woods. It is very pretty, and I'd like more, if it's possible. I don't even know where to start with this, or when, or of it can even be done.
Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Margo

It can be done, but it is extremely difficult. Last year my neighbor asked me to root some for him and the info I found online wasn't too encouraging. This article sounds a little more positive though.

If you are very successful, please let me know your methods. I would sure like to have some of those azaleas, but my neighbor has sold his property.

Hope it works, Linda

Thanks Linda.

Maybe the wild things are best left where they are. I'll try, tho. Maybe beginners luck will kick in:)

Looks like an interesting read, but I think I'll need a dictionary:)

Thanks again,

Margo

Hi: From my research azalea's are best propagated when taken in july and august. I will reexamine my notes and get back to you in the am, with all the details.

I sure would appreciate any advice, if now's the time. The question will be whether I can locate then in the woods. Should have marked them.......

Next year, if not this, but I'll try! They were by the beaver dam.....

I would try to find them if possible. I don't know how dense the forest is.

It isn't that it's so dense, just that right now everything looks alike to me. Green *G*. I'll look, and maybe they'll wave at me:)

I do understand that. everything starts to like like each other.
