My candle has been lit for two days now! Even we English people living here in the US are just as devastated at this atrocity!

Have also had my candle lit as well. One thing that I always keep on hand,is candles.

I think we all should do something whether it be donating blood or money, or burning a "light" or flying a flag nonstop...

I'm glad to hear you two have been doing something from the start!!!

I loved it Wingnut. Thankyou :-)

A curious thing - I'm not Catholic, and nothing in anything I have ever been taught has anything to do with 'lighting candles', but when I woke on Wednesday morning to hear of this tragedy that had happened overnight our time (about 11.30pm), my first instinct was to light a candle -

I just received from my neighbor handing out a paper stating to do that Friday (tomorrow) at 7pm.
Will do that tonight.

That's very nice, thank you Wingnut! Were you in the Air Force, by chance? Being prior active duty AF, then AF Reserve, and now "just a spouse" of ADAF, I've heard "Wingnut" referred to AF personnel quite often.

Janice, I read another post somewhere about lighting a candle tonight at 7 PM EST. That makes me wonder exactly when it's supposed to happen. So maybe we should do it every night until all people are found?

I've also been hearing conflicting times about the prayer vigil Pres. Bush announced/requested. I heard it was supposed to start at noon EST tomorrow Friday 14 Sept., but then I heard it was to begin at 12:30, then I heard it was to be an all day affair, then I heard it was a just a moment of silence around noon or 12:30.

I am now so confused!

I not only have a candle lit but......

I fly my flag with my beautiful sweet peas......

I wear my flag pin............

and I am making additional flag pins.......

I fear that our gardens will never be so beautiful as they are tonight!

My husband works at the Detroit Metro Airport as a firefighter, they had no planes leaving until about 5:30pm and he just told me now (7:50Pm) that they just shut it down again......

God bless everyone

My candle is lit and now the flags are flying outside my home - The Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack. God bless the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God!

Our Red cross is so behind taking blood donations that they are making appointments, I can not get in to donate blood till tomarrow at 5:45PM. I have my candle lit. The Company in the unit next to us does laser imprinting on denim , They offered to print American flags on demin jackets for us if we provide the jacket. I dug up some old plastic flags , that I bought a couple of years ago to sell at the flea market, I gave one to everybody on my street that didn't have a flag. And I tied a yellow ribbon around my Oak tree, for those that are still missing.
