Tammy: What beautiful blood roots you have. Wow! Must add those to my list, too.
Spring Bulbs - What's Blooming? III
Steve: I think we need a new thread for these beautiful bulbs!
Now it's time for me to sit back and admire our northern friends' beautiful spring garden!
Angie, agreed, new thread please Steve.
I luv it when the flowers thumb their sepals at that snirty Ole Man Winter ^_^ Great pic DonnaMack!
Isn't it amazing how resilient plants are? 2 years ago I had my driveway in Asheville asphalted over concrete that was breaking down. Several months later I noticed little lumps in the asphalt, called the paver, who looked at them and said he thought they were mushrooms! Was he crazy? Mushrooms, of all things, pushing through asphalt? Well, guess what? They were mushrooms, as he proved to me when he dug them up and patched the asphalt. I was astounded! Who'd a thunk it!
Yes, Dahlia, it really is pretty cool.
Here is a good web site about all you need to know about ranunculus.
The site refers them as bulbs and later as tubers. Either way keep posting your pics. They are beautiful. They remind me of Peonies.
Planted a bunch a few wekks ago. Sure hope they are as lovely as yours!

beehive the yelliw w/ orange cup is lovely. I hope I can find a similar one for my climate and I'll plant gazillions of them.
vossner.. here is a link for the jetfire daffs. Out of stock now..but should be available in the fall.
They show up to zone 9.

They are very nice and cheerful!
Here are some that I picked yesterday.
There are three containers. The lowest contains some Abba and some Mickey Mouse tulips. The middle layer is three narcissus (don't remember what type) - I put these separate because i heard that daffs shouldn't be put with other flowers. The top contains another couple of abbas, one last Mickey, and three other tulips that I can't remember what they are.
There's a frost warning out for tonight (maybe will be 27 or so for a couple of hours). So am debating whether I need to go out and pick the rest (at least those that have fully opened). Or just leave them outside? What would you all do?
BeaHive, you most definitely take the prettiest pics.
Bea, congrats, your spring blooms are out of this world!
New Design is to die for!
Beahive,
Great pics of beautiful bulbs. I agree about New Design.

Handel - Hallelujah...never get tired of hearing it. It is a perfect song for gardeners after a long cold winter. Something is peeking out of the ground!! Hallelujah!
dahlianut, you gave me a smile this morning! I looked at your picture and then had to go and look at your zone ... then I totally understood!
toofew
Last fall I planted a few bulbs between my fence and the curb, on the south side of my garden. I figured they'd be a little earlier than the rest of my bulbs (they are) and I thought they'd add a little color (they do). What I didn't realize was how vulnerable they would be to the walkers, joggers and four-legged foot traffic in my neighborhood. The look a little 'beat up', but they're colorful!
I do get a tad excited when the first bulbs come up toofew. Nice colour combo Leawood.
