Does anyone have advice on how to germinate jackfruit and cherimoya seeds? I've got them soaking in water right now. The jackfruit has cracked its shell open but no roots are forming and the cherimoya hasn't done anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Tropical fruit seed germination
I grew cherimoya last year and I just soaked it for a couple of days and then planted it just under the surface. Then I put the pot inside a ziplock bag until it germinated. I don't remember how long it took, but I am sure it wasn't more than a month or so.
Doesn't jackfruit smell very bad??? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong fruit but you might think about whether you want to grow that.
On the outside, jackfruit dosen't smell great, but it is durian that smells horrible. I am having luck growing the jackfruit now, but nothing with the cherimoya. I will have to try planting them and see how they do.
Both are starting to come up now.
Just saw a jack fruit tree down in FL. Cool looking but I wouldn't want to put chairs under it. LOL>
jackfruit dont grow true to seed so remember that chances are the fruit may be inferior. i suggest a grafted variety if you are planting for the fruit. Grafted trees are clones of the parent and behave the same way. Grafted trees also produce much sooner then seedlings.
