From what you've shown, the flowering tree looks like a pear (in flower and new leaf) and the big shade tree is probably a willow oak (in silhouette) as you've noted.

Of course, more info is always helpful...

Well that's good to know, because a few others have mentioned pear, and I was discounting pear because I have two ancient and one young pear tree in my yard that are no where near blooming yet. This one in the pic is in full sun, and mine, alas, are not, so maybe its blooming earlier? Not sure. Frost warning tonight, so glad mine are delayed. I'm kinda've excited if it is a pear, as mine are too old and too young and too shaded to bear well. Might have to rob this tree a little if it bears!

Thanks Viburnum--it was, indeed, a pear. It has set tons of fruit--mine are not even finished blooming yet, go figure. I never get any off my tree, due to squirrels, mostly, so hoping this tree will provide some. It is so far away from any other tree, I doubt the squirrels will find it.
