Bird Watching Daily Pics Vol. 194
Hi Frank!!! Looking good!
Great pics guys!
We had quite a bit of snow here this morning but its all gone now.
Good morning Fellow Birders! It's a gorgeous day here in Northern Virginia. While having breakfast, I looked at everyone's photos. It's a great way to start the day. This guy showed up (for the first time ever) at the feeder this morning. Naturally, the photo doesn't do him justice. Blessings to all today.
Sharon
Oh Congratulations Sharon!
I had 15 + American Goldfinch here this morning. That's the most I've had here in a while!
Hi, Pellatory! Is this a Wood Thrush? If it is (as I think it is) I need to figure out a way to get these cowbirds out of the area. They are notorious for laying their eggs in Wood Thrush nests. Those Goldfinch had to be a beautiful sight.
Nice shot of the lady cardinal WB!!
Pelle, cloudy and cold here in Philly today lots of snow this morning...Welcome Spring Huh!! Nice shot of the woodpecker though!
Crazy~ nice shot of the Loggerhead Shrikes!
Hi Loves Great Danes. You're not going to believe this, but I wish we had had more snow this winter. I will pass your compliment along to my DIL.
OK, I know this isn't a bird, but it's another photo of hers that I wanted to share. She found it on her car. Maybe spring has sprung. I would call it a "Preying" Mantis.
;-)
LOL,Hitching a ride huh! Well just keep that thing away from the hummers.
Sharon, your new guy up there looks like a Fox Sparrow to me. MAn what kind of camera does DIL have??? LOL
Great pics all. I keep falling behind....
Our Goldfinch numbers have dropped dramatically the last 2-3- weeks. From overrun to hardly none!
My pics are from the last couple of days and most are not very good!
Don't you wonder how they stay up there like that????
The Hairy Woodpeckers have been coming...they just don't stay long enough at all...just had to grab & shoot to get this shot!! Infact all the woodpeckers have been very busy drumming and looking for mates. The other day a flicker was carrying on with that wild laugh already, and this morning heard a Pileated drumming very close.
Oh that is so cool Lily!!!!
Love the Horned Grebe nanny!
That's great nanny!
Thanks, Nanny: you're right. I read that the Fox Sparrow can often be mistaken for a Thrush, which is just what I did. Ditto on the comment about the Red-headed Woodpecker, Lily. I imagine that the only one I will see anywhere near me is the pin that DH bought for me at Peaks of Otter.
;-)
Oh Nan, those cranes would be wonderful if we can see close up!
Mrs_Ed, oh how beautiful of your Phoebe, I've a pair (or I believe is a pair) that's making their nest under our garage's eave this past week. Phoebe looks very 'formal' I think. lol.
Woohooo, Bluebirds!!!
Way to go Mrs. Ed...you had a great birding day. Love seeing the Blues in a natural setting.
Nice pics everyone and WB I think I'd keep that camera it takes great shots.
I left home at the crack of dawn this morning so I could bird watch in Springfield before my dental appointment. Unfortunately the park I went to was in shade until later in the day!!
Here is a shot of a Canada Goose I saw there.
