Well... a client has a roof top.. on the 18th floor... she's like some evergreens.. I told her she had to have them backed by a trellis.. to help them deflect the wind.. she doesn't want a pine or other needled evergreen.. but is open to something such as an arborvite.. they will be in a 2' X 2' X 4" planter.. perhaps two to a planter.. the planter will be made of either exterior MDF or Concrete board... either of which will have a foam liner.. on the bottom and sides...this will be backed with a 7' trellis.. it will be in full sun.. and hopefully with a drip irrigation.. it will be on the trailing edge side of the building from the prevailing winds.. so the trees will catch the wind first.. trellis behind.. there is nothing higher .. for 30 miles to the west..
Is there anything particularly adapt to endureing strong winds.. If they stayed below 7'-8' it would likely help their survival...
Plastic or concrete trees... was my answer to her.. she wasn't happy with that
thanks...
OH it's for NYC... zone 7b,
