I found 3 of these ugly things is a rotten chunk of wood. When I turn the wood over a whole bunch of litlle white bugs squirmed all over the place, then this thing come crawling out.
CLOSED: Termite Queen or what?
These are larvae of long-horned wood-boring beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in the subfamily Prioninae; likely a Prionus spp. - see http://tinyurl.com/dzvs79 for an example. Some of these, such as the California prionus, can severely damage roots of trees; see http://tinyurl.com/aay9nl for detailed information.

Thank You so much for that information. These came from a tree that was cut down about 5-6 years ago.
