I was so happy...saw a little cabbage white yesterday!!
DAILY BUTTERFLIES Page 59
you're kidding!!!
wow. great!
should seen me trying to catch up with that little thing just flittin' all over the place... it was faster than me! lol
It's so fun seeing everyone's pics! I've seen a lot of tiny butterflies flitting around town, but they move so quickly that I don't know what they are.
Yeah, if you're not into regular excercise...like me...gardening and chasing butterflies are good substitutes!
Linda...I am going to use "chasing butterflies" when my WW leader asks what I did for exercise this week! LOL!
Watch that cherry tree for TST eggs and cats! The black cherry trees here are leafing out, some will have blooms soon.
Nanny, do you have things blooming there? Still pretty dead here except for scilla. Maybe I'll put out some brew in a couple of weeks.
Wild things in the woods are comng to life and and greening up and starting to bloom. Nothing in the yard except daffs, hyacinths and weeds in the flower beds some of which have little flowers.
I had a little bee on the daffs & hyacinths while I was weeding this afternoon!

Here is a nice list of Host plants for butterflies and moths. http://www.dallasbutterflies.com/Butterfly%20Gardening/Host%20Plants%20by%20Common%20Name.htm
It is cute! Love the orange leg warmers too!
I saw one of those little moths just yesterday! And here's a White-lined Sphinx Moth which yesterday was doing its cute hummer moth thing all over my yard...hungry thing, went after almost all of my blooming flowers! I hope to find out soon what the black butterfly I spotted nectaring on my Carolina Jessamine was.
Nice pictures Linda!!
I hope to start taking some more pictures soon. I think we have finally had our last cold spell and will be turning a corner toward spring / summer soon.
I have loads of Gulf Frits cats on my PV now, but no Monarch cats that I can see so far.
That little feller has some major catching up to do!!
Guess what emerged! This TST decided today was the day. There are more choices of host plants than the butterfly had that used the Arizona Ash before. IF she can find a mate here and wants to stay that long, of course. Some of the Escarpment Black Cherry is already leafed out and the Texas Ash is leafing out now.
Congrats Linda, your TST is so beautiful!
WOW Linda - you've been busy!!! That TST is gorgeous!
Butterfly activity out here has been slow. Not much in abundance but I have seen a couple of Monarchs, Gulf Frits, GST, Mournful Duskywings, Mallowscrubs and one lone Texan Crescent.
We've got our annual Butterfly Club meeting next Saturday - am planning on attending that one as I haven't gone to the last four meetings due to being out of town for work. Do hope the butterfly activity at the NABA park is better than my house! Oh and they have changed the name to National Butterfly Center - the plans to add buildings and more landscaping is somewhat halted due to lack of funds. We're all hoping the economy gets better so our backers will continue to contribute again.
Here's the lone little Texan Crescent that hung around my yard all afternoon.
~ Cat
Beautiful shot Cat~.
Great pic of the TST Black variety! Wish I had some Escarpment Black Cherry. :-(
Nice one Cat! It was all alone just so you would notice how special it was!
Lovely!!!
Congrats on capturing the pix, but sorry for the scare, B & J! Those are a real treat in the garden.
Pretty one Linda...I am so jealous! I haven't gotten to raise TSTs yet....yet....yet.
Today was my day to nursery hopping! In the town of Medina, the owner of Medina Garden Nursery told me about the cats that fed on their Flame Acanthus plants. So of course, I wanted to see. Most had crawled off to pupate already, but he found one Crimson Patch cat underneath the plant. I'm hoping that I'll see some at my place also!
I think I would have had to buy the plant and take that cat home! Nice!
