Go,go,go and enjoy yourself. It will be good for you to get away and not think of nothing but flowers for awhile. And spending a few bucks on plants won't hurt you, think how pretty they will be in your new house. ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Kim, you go anyway! I know your mom is trying to be helpful, but sometimes mom's don't "get" how relaxing looking at plants can be! I remember a few years back after a massive layoff at work . . . I had been planning on going to a dog show in Austin the next day . . . DH said to go ahead and go, 'cause it would be a good distraction. You know what? It was! (course it was dogs, not plants, but same theory!). Besides, will buying a baggie of leaves or a small plant put a dent in the mortgage budget? I'LL send you a few bucks if you wanted to get a plant!

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks girls I am going it is something I want to do than go to a bar and have drinks HA HA HA . I hope that I will meet a lot of nice people
and I am sure I will I am very excited about this so ther must be a reason could it be the plants
Syrumani don't you do that I am sending you money that I have put away for those plants I ordered from you. and I do Have money not alot LOL
HUgs
Kimmy
PS You guys put a smile on my face

(Zone 1)

Kim, Go to the show, enjoy all the beautiful flowers, meet some great people, including mrsbonnie (she is a sweetheart!) and just enjoy the day!

Look at it like this ... yes, buying a home is an expense, but once all the up front fees are paid, the monthly mortgage payment will be like paying rent, but to yourself! It will be your home to decorate and enjoy for many years!

Have fun, and Yes ... Take Lots of Pictures to share!

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Dimmer, go and have a great time for us all!

I'm currently at odds with my daughter about a choice she is making and I couldn't appoligize for my view, but I told her not to hold it against me ,as I'm a MOTHER, and a mother's role in life is to worry about their children, no matter how young or how old. It's just what we do. So don't take it personnally, just know that she cares alot for you or she wouldn't being saying anything at all. Lurker Lou

Kim,
You go to that show!It will melt away all that stress in no time! Just think how exciting it would be to have a new pretty for your house ^_^.

Kim, I'm glad you went and had a good time. You brought home a mighty fine collection of plants. Don't want to be a kill-joy, but remember, you have to move ALL those pretties into your new home. It is a job all by itself. When we moved up here from So. Florida, my son put most of my plants in the back of his pick-up truck. I wanted to cover them with a tarp, but DH and DS said it wasn't necessary. Well, my tall scheflera and ficus plants ended up with no leaves on them. Thankfully they recovered. If your new home is close by, you can make many trips to make sure they arrive safe.
Anyway, just glad you had fun.

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

My House is 7 miles north and all the kids in my family have pick up trck and it is starting to get warm 50 and 60 I brought all the plants from Susan to my house and not one of them were goners So I have very happy thought all will work out fine
Thanks

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Good for you !

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey Kim,
I used to be a bossy mother until my kids told me to stop it! One day my youngest daughter said to me, "Mother, just out of curiosity, how old do I have to be before I get to make my own decisions in life"?>>>>>> I was cured. If I ever relapse they put me in my place...........mothers mean well, but they can be overbearing, too!!..

So glad you went and don't let your mother control your emotions.......I try and tell my adult kids to please let me have an opinion sometimes but then totally ignore me and do exactly what they want to do.

So glad you bought plants, too!
gail

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Thatswhat I do ignore but I love her dearly But I should be able to make my own mistakes Tomorrow the House get Inspected and I told the realitor and the Inspector to be prepared for question form My Mother and they said Been there done that
I do do the stiff she has ask like call the Chief of police and to find out how the neighborhood is He told me great cause the retired chief lives 2 houses down from you so the cops do buy all the time he also said have comen(SP) scene Luck your door leave a light on at the front porch all the things I do now So all will be fine I just had to vent it will be over soon
Hugs
Kim
I am starting to wick the new plants it so easy

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Kim, I am laughing so hard at your mother!! And myself!! Every time I hear a story like yours, it reminds to stay out of my kids' business. I know they love me, too.

Don't be afraid to tell your mom to 'back off'.................my kids, did and I could laugh with them and so will your mom.

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Amen to what Gales said! I need to bite my tongue more often. If I don't, they will stop telling me anything they are doing.LOL. Great collection of plants you got. Hope they all do great for you., Lou

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

My kids wouldn't DARE tell me to back off-- that opens a whole 'nother can of momma attitude. However, they do have the right to let it go in one ear and out the other AND as long as I can't actually see them roll their eyes--all is well ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Gran, mine roll their eyes in front of me........just as a gentle reminder for me to be quiet! (LOL)

I forgot to tell you that I am real close with my adult children and we have fun with the whole subject of "MY OPINION" of their business. One day about 5 years ago, I responded very negatively to what my youngest daughter (then 33) was saying and she stopped me with, "You are not listening, Mom. I wasn't asking for permission. I am just telling you what I am gong to do".

(Zone 1)

LOL at all the comments! I don't have kids but when my dear mom was living, my sisters and I used to laugh all the time as we'd listen to our mom's opinion about something, and then let it go in one ear and out the other! We'd say "Yes, Mom" and roll our eyes too! I think it's just a Mother/Daughter thing. ^_^ But, as she got older and roles kinda reversed, if we told her about something she shouldn't be doing (like walking without her walker), she would roll her eyes at us and say "Yes Mother"! As she got up there in age and had health issues there were a few times when she did get a bit irked at us and told us that she didn't appreciate being treated like a child. But, she knew that we loved her dearly and we knew that she loved us too.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks for sharing that Lin........so sweet!

Just catching up here--WTG Kim! Glad you had a good time and you got some beautiful plants! I enjoyed everyone's MOM stories also.

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

Hi All;
We had our first day at the show here in ill,was a beautiful day & i am sure thats why we had so many people. We sold a lot of plants, so i am hoping for ths same today, suppose to me a nice day also.I did get to meet Kim, that was so nice to put a name with a face, what a sweety, somehow i knew she would be. Hey Kim,I'm glad you went to the show, that's a nice bunch of plants you bought. And got to meet up with Bonnie too. That's pretty cool! I love all the mom stories.LOL.

Bonnie,I hope your show/sale does just as good today! Did you enter any plants this year?

Lakeview, OR(Zone 7b)

I told my daughter once: I was a daughter once, you're not a mother so you cannot understand how I worry about you. She never can be a mother and it has messed up her head a lot.

Williston, ND

she can always adopt and be a mommy

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

That is awesome that you said that, Jim. Adoptions are real common among professional people who wait too long to have children because they are still in school in their 30's............and feel like they wouldn't have the time to be a good parent at that point in their lives.

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Well I went to the house and took picture I put in that sweet interruption114 http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/962852/
So if any one want to see my house the picture are there . And My Mother was sweet as pie loved the house and picked on my other sister
I was saved for a day
If I wood have none all my family was coming I wood have brought somethings but It was great and they all love the house
My House Inspector was very impressed with everything in the house there are a few thing but it should cost more than about 50 buck to have them fix so after all the crying and nightmares last night things are getting better
and I do have a room for my plants and for my Flamingo stuff
Hugs

Lakeview, OR(Zone 7b)

big old buck, I was adopted. I went through some hard times with that, my kids both saw it. My daughter would not adopt. I met my birth father when I was 30. I do know it was in God's plan for my adoption. My birth mother committed suicide, my birth father got hit by a car when he came out of a bar drunk at 10 am and was killed; he also spent 5 years in Huntsville for murder. Look what I was saved from.

Williston, ND

Looks like you were saved and it was a comment, cant she see you turned out ok and it would be ok to adopt

JIM

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

dimmer, I looked at the pictures of your new home. It is beautiful. Plenty of room for all those plants and more. Don't worry, chicken soup and rice are good for you. ^_^

Lakeview, OR(Zone 7b)

Jim, I really believe God is in control and He does things for a reason. She is in her third marriage and I don't give this one much hope. Children don't need that kind of life.
