Just an update from my earlier thread about the house in my neighborhood to advise those of you interested that the episode about the house in my neighborhood is scheduled for this evening, 8 pm Pacific Daylight Savings Time.
Linda
Extreme Makeover, Home Edition / my neighborhood
Thanks for letting us know! I've set my DVR to record it for me. Will we see you with a big DG sign in the "move that bus" scene?
Rats! I overslept and missed it. Maybe I'll be able to catch it on the reruns!

Aaaah, eCrane, not in the crowd chanting, girl! Boss wanted me at the staff meeting and as good a boss as he is, I was pleased to accommodate him. He has certainly accommodated me well beyond normal expectations.
As I watched it I was struck by two things: 1) the failure to mention my community's support for this event and the follow-up work in non-profits which also needed help, all resulting from their intruding into town and disrupting our lazy volunteer lives, thank-you-very-much. Good work, guys. and 2) how obnoxious whatsisname is and how underwhelmed I am with the show. That said, he/it does good work, energizes lazy volunteer lives, inviting them to mobilize themselves to work in their community to help others in need of help.
Oh phooey, SW, what a drag, girl! I too frequently nap my way through things I wanna do. My apologies for not advising y'all earlier so you might have scheduled a taping if you'd wanted to do so.
If I hear of a scheduled rerun I'll try and mobilize my brain sufficiently to advise earlier than I did this time. I was out gardening earlier and it just took second place to my "play."

It's really no big deal, Linda. DH hates that show, although he agrees that it does help people who really need it.
I was following that particular one because of your thread. I also wanted to see if the how the exterior of the house glowed golden in the sunlight.
I've met several TV stars/personalities, and the only one I did like was unpretentious, we had many things in common, including our infant boys enjoying eating dry dog food kibble. For a while, it was my ES's favorite snack.
I quit watching the show because the host is a glory hog, they only give credit (usually) to the larger sponsors and not to the community volunteers/supporters whose lives have been disrupted by the process. Which is a shame, because their efforts and contributions should be recognized.
We have many good non-profits in my community, and when I was in better health I worked with a couple of them. My favorite was the Kiwanis Club. Their motto is "WE BUILD". I still miss them, but have to conserve my energy these days. I worked primarily with children's programs, and I do miss them. Fine people all.
The worst problem that we had is that most of the members were past retirement age. Younger people, (I was in my 30''s when I joined, and my '40's when I had to leave), just don't have the time to volunteer. Their lives are busy and well there are so many other things to do. I was an oddball. I wanted to give back to my community. Still do give them financial support when I'm able, but not always to give as much these days.
Still it was refreshing to watch all the changes through your eyes. Keep the strong heart!

And forget those stupid disintegrating, sugar-laden teething biscuits, a medium-size "Milk Bone" is the best thing around for teething infants, IMHO. Didn't know whether DS would talk first or bark first...LOL!
Darn, sorry I missed this show, too. There are a lot of things I don't like about it, but I do enjoy the spirit of the community volunteers. Linda, your "insider" posts were so much fun!!
Darn, I missed it too! I even had it written on my hanging calender but took it down last week to look through it and forgot to put it back up so it wasn't visually in front of me.
They didn't like the milkbones. Just the kibble. They treated it like most kids treat dry Cheerios. Of course my ES was raised with the wolves. LOL!
I guess I have company in my misery.
