I got this Lily Tree from Breck's. Does anyone know anything about these plants.

The picture is out of the Breck's catalog.

Morning!! I have some of these so far they have grown a little under 5 feet. They are beautiful and smell wonderful. I don't know if they will live up to the "tree". But we shall see : ) Wep I'm off to the flower show. cya : )

When Breck's first came out with this advertising, I started a thread about it. Here's a link to it and hopefully it will answer your questions. I will preface it by saying quite simply, as lovely and large as lilies may get in subsequent years after planting, they are never trees ;)

Well it's no wonder that those lilies are so tall ~ they're growing against a brick wall! Undoubtly stretching for light, explains why the gal has to hold them up.

Thanks for posting that link, Mags. Fun thread!

Well, I do too. I planted them in the fall and so far I don't see anything peeking out of the dirt? How long does it take? Oh anf Thank You for the Welcome.

This is the only Lily I have. It's not a tree though. This is "Trumiptor". I don't think I spelled it right ^_^

Hi Cindy,
All of the bulbs that I have seen as "Tree Lilies" are Orienpets that happen to grow very tall. I have staked Anastasia, Silk Road and Luminaries on 6' stakes. They also put out a fair number of bulblets. If you have as long a growing season in Marysville, as I have in San Diego, you may want to cut back the stems long before they turn brown. I have had some bulbs that were so prolific in producing babies, that they used up the original bulb. Now I will only allow my lilies 8-12 weeks after they bloom to take in energy and I am seeing some really big stems coming up from both the parent and the offshoot. Marty

Great advice, Marty13, thanks~you put that simply and well and I have had the same problem never knowing why~I love lilies and grown them for 3-4 years and that little epiphany I just had was lovely~
