Lily, Thanks. I was lucky. Usually you end up seeing weeds, and hoses cement blocks in the background.
Spring Bulbs - What's Blooming? II
:-) Chionodoxa? Hmmm, is that the same thing as Siberian squills? I've some of the dainty blue bells in the garden, and have called them S. squills all this time.
Lily: No; I believe they are two different bulbs, maybe related. Don't know. But definitely two different plants, IMHO.
Thanks. :-)
Lily: Here's a link to Siberian squill (Squill Siberica):

We finally have some bulbs starting long last, save the snowdrops which are like the energizer bunny. I am down with a bad cold and cough, so I have to rely on my DH to snoop around to see who is up. We did find some rabbit and deer damage the other day near the front door. I assume they ate the crocus that were planted there. grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Patti
Angie, thanks for the link. Patti, beautiful collage of spring!!! Hope the critters will leave 'em beautiful flowers alone.
I am glad to see those in the northern climates finally getting in on the bulb action! Congratulations! Patti, I am sorry you've been stuck inside with a bad cold and I wish you well. Are those pictures from this year or last?
Chris I love the Queen Anne's Jonquil - very pretty and I like the "double" inside the cup.
Kim, you beat me this year on the Iris - beautiful! No Japanese iris here; just Dutch iris and German (bearded) Iris. Although I do see buds developing especially on the latter. The Dutch iris usually bloom in early April here.
How about a new thread?

Kim, I always remember what I read in the book" Gardening in the Hot Midwest". read something in a book that clarifed the difference - chionodoxa face up - the bells of squills face down. I only have chionodoxa - OK, I have four kinds - but I'd really like to get your squills.
Donna
Ah, good tips on differentiate b/w the two bulbs Donna. I love these squills they seem to be so carefree. They do well both in sun or shade, open area, or interplanting them with mondo grass even. :-)
This is the Spanish bluebells that about to open, here I've 'Naked lady' and grass and what not going happily among the squills.
The crocus I planted last fall have finally emerged and bloomed....and were promptly eaten by the rabbits. Dern rabbits. :(
What about anemones? I planted lots of those last fall and so far nada, nothing, zip. Aren't they supposed to be up by now? They were Anemone coronaria.
Beahive: What is the name of the anemone you posted above, the brilliant blue one? Must have that one!
Angie
Angie..That is Anemone de caens
Okay. Lowe's has those and I will hie me to Lowe's asap!
Angie
LOL, Angie! Now you've got me to look in to Lowes -- again
Kim
