Spring Bulbs - What's Blooming? II

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

These Hyacinth "Amethysts" have come back well three years running now. Got them from OHG.

Here is a closer pic of another clump of "Bella Estrella" I planted in '06 - very nice scent.

These are "Sky Jacket" I think from the John Scheepers exhibition hyacinths - planted these last fall - they are just massive.

OK, one more - some Jonquilla variety but not sure exactly which one.

Oh and Donna - you'd asked about the single late tulips coming back....this bed has tulips coming up in 3rd year - they bloomed nicely last year and I see buds coming up although they are kind of small - wonder what they'll look like and I will post pics when they bloom. Even if smaller than usual, hey - three year return on non-species tulips in TX isn't bad at all. You can see the bulb splitting going on but nevertheless producing buds.

Hi Steve nice pics! I think your pink and yellow hyacinths look great together. They match the colors in your Dreaming Maid tulips. Would look nice in a grouping imho.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Lovely pictures of your oh so gorgeous blossoms.

Right now the sun is shining and a lot of our snow disappeared yesterday and today.
Tomorrow is a different story as they are talking from 3 to 6" of that white stuff again and then again on Tues.
Oh well, soon I will be in your position, Steve. Seeing weeds and having to get them pulled.

Thank you, pluto and Maxine :-)

Yes Maxine, you're right - soon enough it will be your time to bloom as well. I have been out weeding for awhile today, to make the beds look a little nicer - that is a never-ending battle!

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Ah, I can almost smell the Hyacinths! Loving the show!

Its in the 70s here today, and sunny and beautiful! So many crocus had opened when I went outside this morning, so I had to grab the camera. This is Barr's Purple, I love the bright orange anthers!

I think this one is called Ard Schenk. There's a honey bee visiting! This is the 3rd show from these poor things, they bloom out, get mowed down by bunnies, then produce more blooms.

These are planted in the lawn, a mix of Gypsy Girl, Cream Beauty, and Goldilocks.

Wow Neal, so many varieties you have - and I LOVE that "Blue Pearl" - what a terrific crocus. I need to get that one next fall. Beautiful!

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Steve! I love the icy look of 'Blue Pearl'. Crocus have really won me over the last few years, and I planted about 1000 in fall of '07, which in this big yard doesn't look like that many. However I can tell they have reproduced nicely, and since they're now an addiction, at least a few will be added every year. I have dreams of creating a really big "Hurrah!" with these tiny beauties, LOL.

These are C.tricolor 'Firefly'

Yellow Mammoth is almost orange its such a strong gold. They just showed up today, and later will be joined with deep purple and white large flowered crocus and random clumps of 'Jetfire' Daffodils.

A single C.vernus appeared today, I believe it's 'Flower Record'.

I have a couple small species crocus & snowdrops. I can't wait 'til the show
starts here like it has for you two! Terrific displays Steve & Neal. Keep 'em
coming.

And lastly a few Winter Aconite are still hanging on. I really need to get into Snowdrops now, drives me nuts that they've gotten much more expensive in the last few years (seems like when I wasn't all that interested in small bulbs they were cheap). These early beauties are such a sight for sore eyes, I need them in multitudes, LOL.

Oh, wow, y'all. I leave town overnight and this is what you do! I'll have to catch up on this thread tomorrow. Here's Corydalis `Beth Evans' blooming first time for me:

Neal: That winter aconite is something I'm going to plant this fall for sure. I was thinking of it the other day, in fact, and asking myself why I didn't plant some last fall. Better late than never.

Lovely, lovely spring blooms, everyone. We're at 63* now and going into the upper 70s again today. I will be in the yard after church, for sure!

I do have these violas and some bulbs in a couple of planters. It should be nice in another week.
