localkelly--I sent mjs some seeds last year!--if you don't believe me just ask her.
Maybe she will share with you.
I will seriously consider sending cando1 some because I need the votes!
There are no some prominent scientist now predicting global cooling and I have a blanket overstock.
I could sell a lot more if I were an elected official.
Chocolate Basil? Still searching...
Correction
"There are some prominent scientist now predicting global cooling"
I caint schpell or tipe so pretty good. :(
Vortreker is sending me something lovely! I am hoping Bigfoot will sneak some CB into the packet. :-)
OH BOY! OH BOY!! OH BOY!!! Vort is sending me some CB seeds. We have a BIG family scattered around Ark. and TX. What office do you want to run for? I have a class mate running for Arkansas congress. Can't vote for you there but anything else goes.
Who takes care of that gulf oilspill? I bet you and bigfoot could take care of that mess in a couple of days.
At the farmers market two years ago in Raleigh - one of the farm stands had.........chocolate geraniums..........no kidding.......... lime too..............rose........... I can't remember the rest ---but a bunch. Can you eat geraniums??
I don't think so. One in fact is an insect repellent.They also don't smell like they would taste good. Sorry.

I have instructed them to not come up with a solution but, instead, to procrastinate until the acute crisis is over and then "take names and kick arses" and then call for Congressional hearings on how we can come up with a plan to sell our blanket overstock.
Be of good cheer---and vote early and often.
FWIW, the geranium leaves can be eaten, but the texture is not very appealing. You can flavor sugars with them, or make tea, that is much more pleasant. I never get enough leaves to make rose geranium jelly, but I'd like to give it a try someday.
SOMEBODY has to send me some of these 'jellies" cause I don't have time to do that stuff, and I think I MUST taste it. ! ;-)
(except Banana jelly)....~':
Which jelly do you want? Dandelion, Spicy Tomato or both?
Oh Hot and Sweet Red Pepper Jelly (with cream cheese) is heaven!
Add it to green beans --delightful!
Use it to glaze a the turkey....on Thanksgiving Day.....with 30 people coming...... DISASTEROUS! It burns quickly! (very quickly) (very very very quickly)
I've used the Spicy Tomato Jam to glaze chicken and pork roast. I roast the chicken or pork roast and add the jam for the last 10 minutes. Makes for a great glaze.
Purple basil jelly makes good glaze for pork, or so I'm told, I don't eat meat. I actually like it on toast, lol. Hot pepper jelly and cream cheese is utterly addictive-I make habanero jelly that's pretty darn hot, and some of my friends use it for chicken wing sauce, they melt it and mix it with a little vinegar and butter. I'll stick to the cream cheese and crackers :)
marti - I'll take both ! and pay the postage of course !
( i'm a begger but not totally cheap !)
I'm thinkin the spicy tomato would taste good on grilled white eggplant...............ummmmmmmmmmmmm.
OK I'm going to be making some if about 2 weeks so will put a jar of each aside for you. I usually make it in 1/2 pint jars, but for you I will sind pint jars.
Let me know how it taste on the eggplant and how you fixed the eggplant. I've only had it breaded and fried.
marti - we grill white eggplant, red peppers, onions, asparagus, and those big mushrooms alot. A light brushing with the extra virgin olive oil, fresh herbs of your choice or spices to taste ( for me that's the ones we use to "blacken" fish, and when I occasionally break down and have a steak.)
Sounds good. Got to try it!!!
Vort, Some help you are. :( Thats what everyone in Government does NOW!
With my new found grilling abilitys. Think I'll try it too. I think it'll be good on Yellow squash too.
oh yeah, yellow squash and zucchini, cut them long ways in "planks"....yum...
Grill some split heads of romaine, too. I know it sounds weird, but they're awesome. Drizzle with a little balsamic vinaigrette, thinly sliced onion, walnuts and blue cheese if you like it. I can eat a shocking amount of this. LOL
Grilled romaine? Never heard of it. Will have to give it a try. I do like grilled zucchini, onions, asparagus, tomatoes, so now I'll have to give all this other stuff a try.
ummm, now if we could just get some chocolate basil to sprinkle over "fried ice cream"..............
O K... A... A... A... A... Y, fried ice cream? Sounds kinda chocolate basilly to me!!!!
If you will set your hair on fire, stand on your head in the town square and whistle Dixie (or Yankee Doodle Dandy, if you are so inclined) I will send you some Chocolate Basil sprinkles-----Just send photo of the event along with $400 in unmarked bills and a SASE.
Vort, I can follow all instructions except for the unmarked bills. All my bills are definately marked.
Sorry cando--no deal
Fried Ice Cream Recipe
Ingredients
* 1 quart vanilla ice cream
* 1 cup crushed frosted cornflakes
* 1 cup sweetened coconut flakes, or 1 cup chopped walnuts, or 1 cup cookie crumbs
* 2 large eggs
* 2 tablespoons sugar
* Vegetable oil, for frying
* Hot chocolate sauce, optional
* Whipped cream, optional
Directions
With an ice cream scoop, form 4 large balls of ice cream. Place on a waxed paper lined sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Freeze for at least 2 hours.
In a bowl, combine the cornflake crumbs with either the coconut, walnuts or cookie crumbs (or any combination). Spread the mixture in a shallow dish.
Dip the ice cream balls in the crumb mixture and freeze for 30 minutes.
In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar. Dip the coated ice cream balls into the eggs, then roll in the crumb mixture, coating completely. Freeze for 1 hour. (If necessary, or for a thicker crust, roll again in eggs and crumbs until the balls are completely coated.)
Heat the oil in a large pot or fryer to 400 degrees F. One at a time, lower the balls into the oil and fry until golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove from the oil and place in a dessert bowl. """""Drizzle with chocolate basil""""""" and whipped cream, as desired. Repeat with the remaining ice cream.
I think chocolate basil cheesecake would be good too....*sighing wistfully* A nice chocolate cookie crust, chocolate basil filling, with a chiffonade of chocolate basil on top, mmmm
with all these great recipes,I think a cookout is in order.........sayyyyyy, some place in TX ? We could all meet there, invite Big Foot and we'll slip him a Chocolate Basil "mickie" ( or bring the bear to distract him) so we can have collect as much CB as needed for the cookout.
What food would we use to tempt a Bigfoot? Chocolate basil something, of course. LOL
A really great idea. I think Texans invented bar-b-que. How about 4th of July.
Vort, We do appreciate the invite. We'll all be there. I'll even bring you a Clinton unmarked 3 dollar bill.
I'll bring potato salad with some plain basil springled on top.
Oh don't forgt we need directions to your lair errr house.
I have a jar of old honey for Bear.
Thanks for the fried icecream receipe. I'm going to try it come August.
cando---Drive straight south until you hit the Gulf--take a right--go along the coast 'till you cross the Red River--drive 30.5 miles and take a hard left---Loch Nestle will meet you and guide you the rest of the way.
After you give him the $3 bill
That sounds like High Island Texas to me. Except i'd turn a hard right. Nice try!!! LOL
Well --I have been in hiding just to be spiteful--
Depriving some village of their perfectly good idiot.
What about you folks?
Planting things. Caressing basil lovingly with chocolate bars, feeding bees Hershey's syrup so they pollinate the flowers with chocolatiness.
LOL--Celene
I've been doing some early Christmas decorating, hanging chocolate kiss's off my Purple Basil.
Sounds festive!
Bigfoot,bear, my dogs and i have been camping out. Are only here for a day and going again.
Plan on camping out in Vorts back yard,next to the grill.
