warm weather question

Chesapeake, VA(Zone 7b)

It is supposed to be 68° Saturday and 64° on Sunday. I went out this past weekend and checked on my containers and some have started sprouting. It was 17° this morning when I got up I have read on here that's no big deal. I'll check them this evening. Anyway, my question is, should I take the lid off the ones that have sprouted for the weekend since it's going to be so warm? This is my first year WS so I'm not too sure about these things.
Thanks

IF they are in the sun, and IF it's sunny all day... I'd watch them and if it gets really warm in there.... i've felt HOT before... you can take lids off to keep it cooler, so they dont fry. Just watch them. That is one reason for at this time of the year, to have them in the shade, then you dont have to worry about cooking them.

OK thanks, I am going to move them to the shade so I won't have to mess with them. Going out of town and won't be able to put lids back on. I didn't think to move them in the shade - duh

I have no shade! Guess I will have to rig something when it warms up. Maybe the maples will have leaves by the time the seed germinate. They leaf out pretty early. It is hard to look at the yard and remember there will be leaves soon.

How about moving your plants to the north side of the house where they may just get early morning sun as the sun rises. Even the east side of a house will work. I harden off plants doing that.

My WS jugs are on the east side of my house and they're doing great! They get just enough cool sun in the mornings, but by the time it heats up, they're already in the shade. It's been in the 80s already and lots have started sprouting.
