Oh! My goodness, Lin. Something sure was hungry for your plant. It might have been a rabbit. One year we had a nice patch of brocolli growing in our little veggie patch. It was ready for picking. I went out in the afternoon to pick some for supper, but some little animal (we think a little rabbit) had his supper first, and all the tops were gone. I cut off what was left and used it in salad. The spinach, lettuce and another green veggies were gone too. Only the dill was left alone. Must have been a hungry bunny. After the 'horse left the barn' DH put a fence around what was left of our veggie garden. We don't see too many of them anymore. Not many places left for them. Houses have taken over their habitat.

Beautiful amaryllis! Yes the red ones are Red Lion. I ve forgotten the named of the striped one. Mineva, I think, but i'm not sure. I've got my bulbs in a sack in the basement. Time to get potting. the ones in the picrues are all bargain finds from Lowes.
No orchids on sale could I find!
I love that amaryllis, Lin!!
Kivit, I have to sweep up every dead leaf every day on the front porch to ward against bugs...........what a job.
Brenda, your begonia is so pretty........I want you to know that mine is in full pink blooms. She is so heavy in a basket on a table that when I tried to lift her, I dropped her to the ground. Now I have all these pieces in water to see if they will root that way........
Let me go take a picture of what is left that didn't break when she dropped to the tile floor.........
Great pictures everyone! First time I've seen this thread.Gail, that Begonia should root easily in water and then you will have more than you know what to do with.
Lynn
So pretty.I only have one,but it seems to be sitting there sulking.Maybe I need to repot it.
Nice pickups, WildRose! I am loving my phals.
Me too. I wish my harlequin would bloom!
I know, SAlly. Isn't it fun! I will have to get the camera out tomorrow on the porch......
Beautiful orchids, they look artificial they are so perfect and artistic!
Gail that Whirpool is amazing, my one measly bloom stalk had white flowers so the warmth and humidity is TX have to be just ideal for them to be as gorgeous as yours is!
~Brenda
Oh Sally, what is the name of that Cat in your last photo? It is just gorgeous! I love Cattleya's!
Brenda,
Actually my begonias hate our summers and we almost lose them. When fall and winter come they get real excited and start blooming through the spring. Then the hot summers come again!
How pretty, Sally.
Mine died last summer with the winds and heat.
Very nice photo! Makes me hopeful for spring here soon!
Sally, Your Brunfelsia is very pretty! I have always wanted to try growing that plant but have never seen them for sale down this way. I'm going to a local nursery next week and I plan on asking about it. I found 15 listed in Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=brunfelsia&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search and some Florida folks who grow it with no problems.
Lin, my cousin has great luck with them year after year.......she has hers where they don't get an ounce of afternoon sun.
I think the fern looks very decorative. What are the fuzzy leaves in the front of pot? They go very well together with the brunfelsia and fern. I tried seeds of brunfelsia a couple of years ago. Received them in a trade. They never germinated. I was very disappointed. It's such a pretty plant. I've looked for it too, like Lin. Can't find it down here in Cent. Fl. It may be too hot for them.
That plant in front with the soft looking leaves looks sorta like Lamb's Ear: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/38357/ but I think I see a white flower (front left) and Lamb's ear I think gets red flowers.
I thought maybe it was Lamb's Ear too. The flower may be from the brunfelsia.
Yes, I had Lamb's Ear there last year. I always have it in containers or planted. I love it.
GL--you got THAT at the grocery store? I wanna go shopping there! I have Hoya Bella Lanceolotta variegata--looks similar to yours--the blooms are pink and white--I noticed my hoyas give off their fragrance at night--not so much during the day.
Wow Sally...that's Mountain Laurel? It's so different from ours, which won't bloom for awhile yet. It is just as pretty though!
I googled this real fast. It is a wonderful plant. Smells like grape, we love it. Very different from other laurels. Here is a picture from last year. Larger now. I painted the large container gray blue and the swirl is purple.

Grows into a nice tree too!
Yes, very nice trees here.
Sally,
What a pretty plant and you must be very talented to make a pot look like that! My son lives in San Antonio and the first time he told me about Texas Mountain Laurel,I thought it was the wrong plant. It is completely different from those that grow here.
Lynn
I love Mountain Laurels, too............all over Austin.......my brother has the gray leafed ones.
GL!!! I love that hoya and I got some cuttings in a trade with GL>.........They are already rooted and I am almost ready to take them outside.
I found another plain hoya bella today for only 10.00 at Lowe's.......let me go take a picture as I love ALL of everyone else's pictures.
Also, I am like you all. I am so happy with my grocery store orchids.
