There really were 5000 seeds in that package

Now what do I do? This is Lobelia Sapphire. Do I thin & transplant one little seedling per pot or is Lobelia better with a few together.

Wow! I think that I have done this before. I always want to save as many as possible, but in reality, there is no way that I could use a thousand plants.

Some of the more experienced gardeners actually prick out the seedlings. I would probably begin with the larger plants. If you have a number that you are hoping to reach, might be easier to aim for that, and let the rest go.

Good luck.

You have to get brutal. I had a brazillon huechera seedlings come up so I just picked out the largest to pot up and tossed out the itty biity ones....I now have 3/36 ct. cell pack trays of big baby huecheras and I'm still not done dibbling out baby huechera plants so I'd be in really big trouble if I kept every last one.

I sewed dianthus knappii seeds into a 2 qt pot. Didn't look like that many seeds but I've dibbled out a 36 ct cell pk. tray of those too w/ a few still left in the big pot taht I'm just going to plant out in a bed somewhere as soon as weather premits. Looks like I'm going to have a bumper crop of digitalis Candy Mountain, several var of gentianas, eupatorium Prairie Jewel and a bunch more of WS seeds that are just now sprouting. My eyes are always bigger than the plot of land I have to garden on...LOL
