I sowed a bunch of verbena on 2/23, I started seeing signs of life on the 2/27th, and today there are about 12 (out of 72) that have sprouted, but their cotyledons haven't unfolded yet. My question is, that since these are supposed to germinate in the dark, will it hurt the germination of my other seeds if I move these under lights? Or should I wait for more to come up?
Verbena seedlings
Did you surface sow them? I cover the verbena seeds with soil & stick them under lights. All mine germinated. I do not have success with covering the flat with seeds surfaced sowed & require darkness. Works much better to just plant them about 1/4" deep. Same for pansies & salpiglossis. All germinated get in cooler temps , less than 70ºF/21ºC
I did cover them with about 1/4 inch of soil. So, I'll move them under the lights and hope they'll be okay. Thanks Joanna! (cute seedlings!)
