So what and when are you going to start in the house ???
Last year I started some seeds to soon what a mess !! I think I'll wait a week or two this year I need to go out and bring in the racks and lights so I'll be ready ;0)

YEA!! Another winter month has come and gone and now we're into March. The days are longer and the sun is shining bright. It's still very cold here though. I know the deer are hungry and coming out of the woods during the day. Yesterday I heard my driveway alarm go off and looked outside and there were six deer there and two of them were chomping down on my sweet autumn clematis. The two bichon dogs chased them off. Good dogs! I must get out there and do some deer repellant spraying today.
I'm doing seeds this year but will not beging sowing them till the first of April. Realistically, I cannot plant until the end of May so to avoid getting the weak and stretche over grown plants I won't start before 8 weeks till plant time. If you have a heated greenhouse then you can start early. I don't have that yet. Many things I will direct sow into the soil once it's warmed up past 50 degrees...........like my beans and cucumbers etc.
I'll be glad when the snow is all gone. I hope we have a slow thaw though to avoid flooding.

The sun is sooo nice and warm, but that wind. I am used to walking in cold weather, but it is as bad as below zero outside.
The animals are starting out of hibernation early, we will have an early spring.
I am going to start some coneflowers from seed this year. Wish me luck. I tend to need it. Ha.
I so hope we have an early spring and NO late frost I still think I'll wait for a couple of weeks be for I start my seeds but its getting harder every day to wait ;0)

Coneflowers are easy. I've never started them from seed indoors, but if you let them go to seed in the fall, you'll get new plants the next season--plus the finches love the seeds.
Thanks. I hope they will be ok. First perenial from seed I have ever tried. I think they are really pretty and envy them in other's gardens.
We also really enjoy the birds. I did not know they ate these seeds. That is great.
I ordered a bunch of cone flowers from co ops this year I hope they do well I realy like them

That is ok, lets take the warm weather and that be the normal and a storm abnormal. We can deal with a day or two of winter trying to stay on, if 40-50 is all the other days for a while.
yeah but....I hear the storms help wake up our trees....^_^

Yes, and I am sure you have noticed the weather change. A couple days ago it was 0 in the morning. This morning it is 50...yes 50. Couldn't believe my eyes.
The geese have been flying over steady looking for open water, looks like they found some last night. The spring honking has begun.

deann, they would both be about the same distance away for me. About an hour's drive either way, of course I could visit my son and his family near Capac at the same time.

We have a few snowflakes floating around in the wind here. Nothing too noticable. THe wind should help dry up the water in the fields I hope. We've got a lake down by the pond side of the property. I think some of my fish have escaped the pond. I keep seeing big spashes in the water in the field. :) I guess they are having a field day on the worms coming out of the ground. I hope they swim back into the pond at some point.
We lost power during the night but only for a second.........just enough to make all the clocks blink. :)
I'm cleaning out my master bedroom closet. Got one side done yesterday. Today I'm doing the winter clothes side. I have more clothes than I need. I found things I forgot I had. Will be nice to be organized again. :) I want to get all the cleaning done before it's time to dig in the dirt.
