how long from seed to flower for campanula percisifolia?

In general, perennial seeds will bloom the following season. A few such as Gaillardias will bloom the same season they were sown if started early.

Seedling usually have to produce a good root system before they have the energy to bloom. That takes time.

I overwintered some seedlings in quart pots, and a couple of them bloomed (still in pots, 2nd year plants) last summer... now that they're in the ground, I'm sure I'll see blooms from the rest this year.

Does this plant need winter chill?

to germinate, or to flower?

I'm not sure if I winter sowed it because it had to be cold-stratified or just because I *could* WS it and save space under the lights. Check out Tom Clothier's germination database... http://tomclothier.hort.net/page02.html#C Looks like they germinate fairly cool (68 degrees) but don't necessarily need changing cold/warm temps.

I started a bunch last year and bought one at the nursery and none of them bloom last year and the ones I started from seed are still pretty small. I'm wondering why no bloom?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

because they're only a year old.

They'll start growing this year... some may bloom, or they may even take an additional year. In case I was not clear above, I got first blooms on a couple of plants when they were *2* years old.

Ah. That makes more sense. I really really want to have this flower in my shade garden. how much sun/shade do yours get?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I've got almost all full sun here, so I can't really help with that. Sorry.
