Yep, that's how it starts. Janice, you're getting Stacey off on the right foot. lol!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Wll, I thought I was until my sewing machine died again last night. I wanted to sew a zig zag on the edge of a seam and the needle kept coming down on the plate. Tried several different settings and all with the same result. Went back to straight stitch and had the same problem; broke 4 needles altogether. I was going to give this machine to Stacey and get a new one later this summer but not now. Taking it to a different repair shop tomorrow; it's spend three trips to my local quilt/sewing machine place with no luck.
So I am out of commission for a while.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh no.... you'll be having serious withdrawals... I'm afraid you'll be doing more fabric shopping to fill the void :*(
Poor you!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

DUMB, DUMB, DUH!! Would you believe I took the machine in to a different repair shop and he (nicely, I might add) pointed out that the problem was I had the needle inserted in the wrong hole and the screw was not holding it firmly enough. That was why it kept braking needles. Now I am single and live alone so some of those things are really foreign to me (bad me). I felt really dumb but at least I got my machine back right away.
The man pointed out that my old Kenmore was really made by Janome and while I was there I looked at a new Janome. It is one of the base computerized machines, does the things I want without overwhelming me with 1000's of choices I will never use. Runs about $800 and that is more than I have EVER paid for a sewing machine but I did like it. I will have to do some more research into the newer machines; prices and where to buy before I make up my mind.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Janice, at least you got your machine back, and learned to toghten the needle! What kind of machine was it? If you know the madel number you can do a goggle search, and see what you can find.

OMG Janice, did you start to laugh when he told you? I've a Janome and if I ever purchase another it will be a Janome!

I have something to pick up in Hillsdale tonight if I get home on time and I can find my pattern bin I'll go looking for the pattern 'daliah' (?) quilt..who knows, in my move I lost a bin or two, let's hope it's in the one that I have stored...

Stacey sure is excited isn't she about her sewing projects..I'm so looking forward to her visit..think I best purchase some 'pep' pills to keep up with her...

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

You sure better. When she went home on Sunday I went to bed for a nap. Slept 2 full hours, got up and watched TV and slept 8 hrs that night! Sorry she had a headache on Monday. Maybe I was too much for her.
The daliah pattern for $35 with all the templates and everything. OK for what you got but too much for either of us this month. She did real well with all the sale fabric.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll check tonight...with her coming this month if I have it she is more than welcome to it..I lost so much in the move..all my computerized knitting machine patterns..I had them all sketched and designed and 'gone'..

the things I should have lost, not needed did make the move..lol

seedtosser--thank you for the kind remarks
sorry, been in the DG maze of forums and forgot to leave bread crumbs to find my way back here

did it again--another jacket in the planning stage
will try to take a photo later and show the pattern

I am actually going to use the wrong side of this woven, since I prefer the color combo

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, it's funny how things can get lost in a move! Never have figures out where it all goes. Maybe it is in the same place as the socks that get lost in the washer or dryer?

LK

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Isn't that the truth! I lost all of my grandmother's recipes and her notebook one time when I moved. Had all of the things I REALLY wanted in one box and, of course, that was the box that got lost. It's become a joke, every time I can't find something I say, "Well, it must have been in that box I lost."

here is a photo of the fabric for my 'in the planning stage' jacket

the left side is what I'm using --the background is chartruce , did not come out true color
the right side with black background is the 'right 'side of the fabric

I know how you feel, and it is never a monetary value--it's emotional attachment

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Both are beautiful! I'm going to get back to my quillow in a few minutes, if my nerves will let me sew! Don't know why I'm so shakey! My dr. gave me Buspar for my nerves yesterday, so far, ???????!

doe--maybe it takes a while to reach blood levels before it begins to work
hope it kicks in soon for you

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, be careful sewing with the new meds, you don't want to sew your fingers!

LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Don't worry! I didn't sew anything! I turned the machine on, and cleaned up the kitchen! I have to sit down every few min. to do anything, so I didn't get around to sewing!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please take care. We do worry about you. Sending prayers and ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, that is not good! You make sure you get a nap today!

Audrey, should you be alone with feeling so poorly???
Going to painting class tonight but we have a lady who does commercial machine quilting to come in and give is different options for quilting of our quilt tops so we'll meet at 6pm..mine is different than the others, it's all cross stitched and has the quilting markings imprinted..know they was away..will see what she comes up with..understand for reg. queen it's about $300-350. but if it's custom which mine is, could run between $450. - 500...

Will have to make a decision quickly, I'm just not up to hand quilting this spring, so much on my plate...her info though should be quite interesting...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty - please keep us posted on what her thoughts are. I have some cross stitched pieces I would like to incorporate into a quilt and I'm really curious. Thanks
Barb
PS The temp here today is acutally going above freezing!!! Everyone is so excited.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Betty, 450 is not a bad price for a queen size. Custom around here would be above that..

Victoria Harbour, ON

for machine quilting? the days have gone where groups from the church take in quilting..my Aunt Muriel offered to do it for $300..darling that she is, her eyes are giving her trouble as well as her hands, she presently is doing one for mom..beautiful quilting but she in late 70's and I think it's just too much for her, as well, my sister Sharon has a top she needs done, cross stitched as well..she's won so many awards for quilting but her back won't allow her to sit for any length of time, she's even had to give up stained glass...

So I'm hoping this lady can come up with something for me...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Guess I'll try my cpap machine again! I took a nap this afternoon and Wayne came over for a while.Maybe tomorrow I'll get to the quillow!

LOL, when I was in JoAnn's I was tempted to take a stack of the sales papers with the coupon. But I only took 1 ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy you love doing quilt blocks..years ago I used to make blocks and frame them..frames were pretty primitive but adorable..will post a photo for you..maybe you can give frames instead of big wallhanging etc.-great way to use up your left over scraps, and from what I understand, you are getting an awful lot of those..

I'm just as bad as you..had Fabricland (equivalent to your Joanne's) put 3 more pairs of rag scissors away for me and 3 more of those boxes with all the inner layers of sewing goodies..girls at painting all want me to check if they've more boxes..have to pick up 8 more...hey, reg. $14.98 on for $3.00 good stocking stuffers..
Christmas is coming you know..
