This bug usually shows up in our house when there is a thaw in the winter. He is about 1/2 inch, moves fairly slowly and sometimes flies. I have tried Googling and I think maybe he is either a Leaf-footed Pine Seed Bug or a Western Conifer Seed Bug but I'm just not sure. Each photo looks a little different. Does anyone know who this guy is?
CLOSED: Leaf-footed pine seed bug?
This more likely is a Western Conifer Seed Bug (Leptoglossus occidentalis) than a Leaf-footed Pine Seed Bug (Leptoglossus corculus) - see http://tinyurl.com/dc2ylb for distinguishing characteristics. Please bear in mind that insects, like humans, exhibit a great deal of individual variation.
Thanks Suunto. I think you're correct.
