Weird weird '09... #5
James, be sure to post on this forum when you're trying to give the Italian Prunes away. I'll bet you find some takers!!
Patricia, I think we have a Weird Weather continuation thread going and somehow got a bonus Weird Weird thread thrown in there. We're confusing ourselves more and more . . .
Back in that tennis match. I don't know which way to look. LOL
Wonderful pictures everyone, even the one that isn't quite right. I'm getting the chills just looking. Brrrrrrrrrrrr
No snow here today, blue sky off and on, but on the chilly side. I can see snow in the hills, but if it got down to the valley floor it was gone by sun-up.
I think it is that Laura is in the middle of moving and she had a migraine, in addition to the bug that is going around, when she put up a new room....I know we were on the phone and she was having some issues with getting the new room up. On top of everything else they are moving boxes but can't get the furniture moved until the first of the week because the landlord needs to have the bathroom floor replaced and they would not be able to get into the bathroom for a couple of days. She is not having a good time right now with being sick and everything scattered between two houses.
Had snow when we got up this morning, it hung around until just before noon.
Poor girl. When it rains it pours. It can only get better from here.
OMG. I love that. Where did you get it?
I do polymer clay...I made him while watching TV last night....
ROFLOL Trying to get some of the frustration out? Poor Laura, hope things get easier and she gets well soon. Actually I hadn't even noticed the name. I usually just start the title and skip to the number. LOL It was going back to the old thread that was confusing me. Someone would ask a question on one and the answer popped up on the other. Kept me on my toes!!
I have had that happen on a couple of threads.....it does keep one hopping for a bit doesn't it?
Well , think I will turn in for the night, mom has her two week followup in the morning.....I figure she is doing quite well as she was out in the shop with the saw going yesterday....needed a small shelf for something in her workroom.....! She may be limping abit still but she is getting back to her old self.
Good night...
Katie, if you want to see some of the other stuff we are doing I started a polymer clay thread on the Craft and Decorating Forum.
In the shop with the saw? LOL Sounds like she's doing great!!!
That vampire dust bunny is awesome!!!
James, well I was hopeful that someone was going to get blue skies all day. Oh well, you probably get points for seeing the most of it though!
Trisha, that dust bunny is adorable!!!! Got up to a really warm temperature this morning, NOT!!! It's a whopping 16°!!! WOOHOO!!!
Susan105
Cheryl, I love all of your pics on both threads. I know we are and thank you, you do the same.
Susan105
Trisha I hope Laura is feeling better soon - what a bummer to get sick just now. Moving is stressful enough without feeling poorly.
Great news about your mom! Tell her hello!
Thanks all....
Have moms two week followup today...once Dr. Wood tells her all is well there will be no stopping here.....the only thing left is she still hasn't tried to drive yet.....hmm,but when she does means I will lose my second car....it has been nice having her car when Bill takes our to work.
I those Dust bunnies in a clay magazine and I just had to make some.....perfect for those of us who would rather do a dozen things than house work!
Beautiful sunshine today.....how do I know it is too good to last?
Trisha - you have to be kidding. You made him yourself? That is awesome talent. I'm going to check them out in the Crafts Forum. Thanks. And good news about your mom.
Love the dust bunny. Does he eat dust? I just captured a lot of dust bunnies the other day. Kept em in the vaccum bag.
Our sun has disappeared and it is cold and cloudy. Mother Nature is a tease!
James. I would love one of the Italian prune plums, I had 4 at my old house in Port Orchard, so miss them. If you have a tree, you want to fine a home for one. I have wanted one but they are not in cats.
Hi Tilly,
Take a look in the Rain Tree Nursery Cat. They have dozens of varieties European plums, http://www.raintreenursery.com/catalog/producttype.cfm?producttype=Plums%2DEuropean including this one, which I think is the same or very similar to my prunes. http://www.raintreenursery.com/catalog/productdetails.cfm?ProductID=C120
The Seneca plum, however is my favorite. http://www.raintreenursery.com/catalog/productdetails.cfm?ProductID=C220 It doesn't produce as much fruit as the Italian prune, but it's a big, juicy, yellow-fleshed, freestone plum that is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my tree is situated poorly, so it doesn't get enough sun. Consequently, I don't get more than a 2 or 3 dozen Seneca plums in a season.....but man-oh-man, I look forward to them! Take note, the Seneca requires a pollinizer in the vicinity.
Congrats on the babies. Can you just plant that whole thing in the ground?
Great job, Judi ^_^
Wecome to seed mania, no don't fear you can grow anything. LOL
I think you have to remove the netting since it seems like it would impede root growth. When do I put these guys in the ground? I'm guessing after the frosty stuff is all gone.
No it will rot, just cut small slits in the side. But make sure when you plant it all the mesh is buried, if not it will dry out faster. or cut the flaps off the top.
You should wait until the last possibility of frost in your area. Where I am it is late April.
Congratulations!!
Great seeds there Portland. Success!
rc.... you're here! Did you make it to the nursery this morning? Did you get what you wanted?
Sorry Sally, I was here for just a minute. I did make it there this morning. There was not a one true double black or I'd even settle for a double slate black, but not a one. There were a few of some really nice double reddish blacks, but that's not what I was after. There also weren't any Jade star's, however there was a pretty good Jade Tiger (the double version of jade star) that I thought was a decent runner up. They had some really good red's if that's what you're after. I also took an interesting slate one. With this crazy weather, they're all opening late.... so there wasn't many to choose from. I'll post some pictures over in the hellebore thread either later tonight or tomorrow night.
Well, it's SNOWING now. We are on the edge of the line for maybe 10-14 ". This will be our biggest snowfall of the winter. Jeff will probably have a snow day tomorrow. Hope they call tonight and not wait til he is almost out the door. LOL
Oh so sorry for you Jan. Hang in there. It's weird how after being on DG one worries about weather around the world.
So true Willow!!! I think that might be because we all sort of feel that we know each other, even if we've never met in person before. It really changes things when you know someone who's affected by it.
Hang in there Jan!!! If all of you do have a snow day tomorrow, I hope that you're able to all stay home and make a fun day of it. It would be much better if the power stays on too.
lol
