I was just curious....I am going to start my peat pellets this weekend.....I will remove the netting and transplant the seedlings with the are big enough....would petunia's be ok in those individual yoghurt or pudding cups? Do you think they would be big enough? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Containers for transplanting.....
Last year I repotted my petunias in 3 inch plactic pots that I save when I buy plants from the nursery. This is what it looked like just 8 weeks after sowing. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/193396/
Thanks...I might need something bigger then....
Oh one more thing...I screwed up when I planted my pink wave petunia's....I guess I wasn't paying attention but I covered the seeds with dirt....then I read that they should just be pushed into the soil grrrr. Anyhow I tried to fish out the ones I could find but I couldn't find several and I just got frustrated....do you think it is still possible they will germinate?
Don't know that answer. Probably depends on how much soil on top and how heavy the soil is. If a lite dusting I wouldn't worry.
I use plastic yogurd cups and any other cups that size. My best cups for tranplanting in are the foam coffee cups. I used to save the used ones from work and just wash them out at home. Actually, they are cheap to buy in any food store, or Walmart. What I like about them is that the foam acts as an insulator from heat and cold. Also, large ones are easily cut down to a smaller size. A pen will make drainage holes easily. They are also easy to write on with a marker. They will also tear away easily from the root ball when you are ready to replant to the garden.
