Mopani Worms are a local delicacy. They come out in the rainy season +- Mid to end Feb, They are dried and eaten as a snack.
Tried to add to the bug files but to no avail maybe there is someone who can do it for me, I have other photos.
CLOSED: Mopani Worm ?
I think this is the page for this species:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/3335/
Wikipedia uses a different name for the genus, Gonimbrasia; maybe it should be changed or added as a synonym. Hopefully the bugfiles administrator will see this thread, or we can send him a note..

I did see this thread, and I have modified our entry, changing the Genus to Gonimbrasia and adding the common name Mopane Worm. I have also noted the synonym in a list I am keeping until Dave provides the means to store synonyms in BugFiles,
softwaters, the page for the Mopane Worm is here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/3335/ and we would be delighted if you would add your images
