I'll take their rejects! LOL

That double yellow is on their website in 4"--double moon, I think any way. I didn't get it because it did not look as good as your shot. I'll have to put it back on my "I'm gonna get rich any day, I know it, wish list". LOL

Hey debbie,
What you are seeing may be cajun moon? or Mango Moon? I have both of those and there is really no comparison to this one. This is a new one called Saffron moon. Thanks for the compliment on the pic. I fell in love with it! It's not on the site as of yet at least I dont think but I may be wrong.

Take Care,
Robert

It was Cajun Moon, sorry (had to go back and look). I personally hate hibiscus photo's with a black background. None of them look as good, in my opinion. Cajun Moon's a looker too.
=)

Hi Debbie,

I know what you mean about the black backgrounds. I personally like to see the foliage behind the plant.

Hey Alice,

I loved them as well. I was able to replace a few that I lost. When I saw the blooms i just had too. I was just not able to pass them up. So many fond memories LOL Ok Here I go again spilling my guts to everyone " HELLO MY NAME IS ROBERT AND I AM A HIBISCUS ADDICT"

IHi Maureen,
It's a wonderful place to visit. I get to go 1 to 2 times a month. I looked at Robert Dupont today I smiled and said " It must be nice to be you" he just smiled.

Boy o boy o boy!, Robert you are really lucky, you got to see such beauty up close. I know they sell in multiples of six but do they have to be the same, all one type or can you purchase them differents to total six.

Wilfred

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Their website says it can be any six.

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I got 6 different ones. They just say you have to buy 6, 12, 18--in other words multiples of 6. The way they pack them for shipping works best that way.

Hello everyone and thank you Robert for the kind words. It's always a pleasure doing business with folks like you! I haven't been on here in awhile and its good to see everyone still so excited about hibiscus. I guess I take it for granted most of the time and don't realize how fortunate I am to be around such beauty day after day. My grandfather has created a paradise and I am lucky to be following in his footsteps.

Here's some additional info on a few of Robert's images:

#2 - We Remember - an old variety that we discontinued but still have a few plants around
#8 - Eye of Kali - a new seedling soon to be available
#11 - Moonlight Madness
#14 - A new seedling - unnamed - remains in the same spot this morning and is 12"

As far as the black background goes, I try to avoid it as much as possible when using images for our website. However, that is the way they have to be for our picture tags. I know, I should get out there more often and take some real pictures. LOL!

Thanks ecrane3 and dm1218 for the info. now the problem is 6, 12, 18 or even 24, there are all so beautiful hard to pick just a few, but budget not so big so I have to conform with just a few and try to cross pollinate them to make a few of my own. Who know what can come out, I might get a winner.

Wow Robert (Petisca), what fun you had!!!!!!! Geez, if I went there I'd feel like I won Willy Wonka's golden ticket!!!!

Robert (DuPont), these new blooms are just gorgeous! I think you must indeed live in paradise :-) I'm going to be watching out to see when Eye of Kali comes out. I really like that one a lot!

How could we not be excited about hibiscus; over here, we are the core of the "Hibiscus Addicts Anonymous" club, lol!!!

I went to the Dupont Nursery website, and I must be an idiot, because I cant figure out how to purchase any hibiscus? There is a page where they are $10 if you purchase 6 of them, but I can't figure out how to add them to the shopping cart.

Its probably good that I cant figure it out, waaaahhhhh!!!!!!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

You have to click on the link that says "check online store" underneath any of the pictures. Once you're in the online store and view the list of what's available there's a "buy" button next to things.

ecrane3, you are very bad.....bad bad bad.....now I can shop....

Well, at least you'll be in good company then, lol!!

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Beautiful pics and boy to have seen them all in person. You lucky .. licky.. lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

I have never seen hibiscus in hanging baskets before. I wonder how folks enjoy seeign the blooms everyday if they up in the air like that?

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Starlight, I believe the flowers hang down in the baskets a bit so they're not hard to see. I currently grow Evangeline in a basket and it's just beautiful! When it warms up a bit, I'm going to put Wild at Heart in a basket too :-)

Here's a pic of my basket Evangeline; it has grown really well, and people always comment about how pretty it is hanging :-)

Karen... Now that one is pretty, an I can see the flowers real well, do you have to pinch them to make them grow that way or do they do that naturally?

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Mine just did it naturally. If you purchase a very small plant, you should always pinch a bit to increase branching. Previously, I had never grown one in a basket either. But Robert suggested it, so I thought I'd give it a try. The plant really took off growing as soon as I hung it up, and it bloomed often :-) I've got a patio in the place I just moved into, so I'm hoping to have a regular ole' hanging garden!

Some hibiscus have kind of "weepy" branches naturally. I would think that you could hang any of them. I'm definitely not an expert though, hopefully Robert will see this thread and chime in. I know they grow lots of hibiscus baskets in his neck of the woods :-)

Here's another picture - Evangeline with a double bloom.

No fair, now ya making me really drool. LOL Gorgeous.

Gona have to try and see if I can do that with some of mine. If Robert don't chime in on how to do it , will dmail him and ask before I make a mess of tryign to do it. LOL

How often did you pinch? How long did you let the branche s get before pinching?
