Two very lucky birds.......

Alpharetta, GA

Just wanted to share a picture of my new feathered friends and share their story. These two beautiful Macaws were left in a VERY small cat carrier by a dumpster behind Pet Smart. Pet Smart rules are that they can not take them into the store so the vet clinic I work at was called. We have taken them in and I am in love!!! They were obviously handled in their previous life as I can hold and hand feed each one. Neither one has tried to bite me which has truely surprised me!!! Everyone else in the clinic is scared of them so in a weeks time they have bonded to me and are very unhappy if I am not at work to take care of them (I was called in on Saturday which is my day off). We are letting them settle in and then this week or next we will do blood work and fecal samples to see if they are healthy and what sex they are. They have both been feather picking (one more then the other) but that seems to have gotten much better too. They are on a good diet now with lots of fruits and veggies and very loved. I think I have talked the vet into keeping them but time will tell. If we don't end up keeping them then we will put them up for adoption and they will have to go together as they are bonded. And yes, I have considered the idea of taking them home but my husband is totally against it. Not to mention, I really don't need the extra food bill right now either. Anyway, thought some of you would enjoy seeing my new babies.
