Question about EBs, would like your opinion

Crestview, FL

Dorothian: I am just now braving to put mine outside; but, I live in NW FL, so was going to be really shocked if you were doing this up north already. LOL I know I live in the coldest city in Florida, but sheesh. Having some seperation anxiety putting them outside after having them inside for the past month.

I actually planted this Earthbox last November and it has been in that spot since then. It is against the south side of the building and we did have to cover it 2 or 3 times this winter. The automatic watering system that comes with it is great. I can go away for several days and it still gets watered.
I also have an Earthbox that I use in Michigan. I plant it with small plants in mid April and put it on a two-wheeler and move it into the garage at night and out into the sun (which is pretty weak yet at that time of year) for the day. Later, when the temps moderate a little more, I wheel it out to stay and wrap a frost blanket (row cover) around it, leaving the top open during the day and closing it up at night. Memorial Day is the big coming out day for all tender plants there in Michigan.

Dorothian: It's hard to believe my dad was ever stationed in Alaska and that I spent 3 years in Germany years ago. I was raised in Ohio; but moved to Florida, have lived in Florida for 30 years now, and when I made a trip back to Ohio a while back, only stayed about a week and didn't venture outside, it was in November and was too cold for me? Can you believe it? I'll bet you got pretty Peonies though.

I have some of those big double pink peonies and they are beautiful when theu bloom. Usually in early June.
Joy, where is Crestview, Fl?

Crestview, FL

D: Crestview is in the panhandle part of Florida, about 65 miles from Pensacola, about 35 miles from Fort Walton Beach, Destin, and Eglin Air Force Base, and about 150 miles from Panama City. It has weather like Mississippi and Alabama instead of Florida weather, we are a zone 8B here, instead of a 9 or 10.
