Time to check back in and see what's in your bator

Newton, AL

Not sure if anyone even noticed that I have been gone, but I am back to check in.
The bator is full and the hatching will begin on Friday! Orloffs and Brabanters, then next week Giant Blue Cochins, Black Copper Marans, Salmon and Blue Faverolles and the Sebestpol geese and last but not least, the rumpless araucanas! I love spring in LA!
What does everyone have in their Bators?
I am still looking for some White crested Polish Bantam hatching eggs if anyone has any!!

Clarkson, KY

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Clarksburg, MO

Well I too have been missing in action. What is in my bator, you ask?????????? Nothing but empty egg shells. Monday and Tuesday I hatched 47 little cuties (barnyard specials) from my own stock. They are all doing fine and we had a great hatch rate.

Refilling tonight with another 12 dozen eggs from our hens. After that I will be separating the breeds and be hatching Marans and Buff Orps first. I have orders for them already and things are picking up on the other breeds.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

47! Fabulous! That must be a whole handful of fun! Glad to see you on here Sheila!

Some of my recent hatch are buff orps. They are gorgeous chicks. I didn't hatch any of those before.

(Zone 7b)

Congratulations Sheila looks like your well on the way to haveing a good business.

You have been missed!!!!!!!!!!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Congrats Sheila!!! That is great! Something good to look forward to. Be Blessed!!

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

my girls r starting to lay for some of my pens also!!!

Newton, AL

silkie, great mix!
I am getting the rumpless from a guy in Amherst VA. My hatch rate is really bad only 1 chick out of 14 eggs with his shipment. My others are really great. I have 13 out of 14 Faverolelles. Not so great on the Blue Cochins, but he is sending me more eggs.
Also getting some eggs from hinkcj@ptd.net on back yard chickens.hope to have a better rate with the new eggs

Clarkson, KY

Thanks again...

6 RIR's last week 3 Blue JG's so far one more pipped. Will throw out what doesnt hatch tomorrow and start a new batch Saturday.

Got my spare bedroom cleaned out and that will be my incubator/brooder/sewing/computer room. Once the chicks feather out they go outside to big brooder.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Hey Luvs, did you get the tomato round robin back on track yet? I'd really like to get my seeds from it soon so that I can start planting by March!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Congrats everyone!!! wooohooo! It may not look it but Spring is coming!!!!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

InBetween... don't forget that Rumpless have the lethal gene.. it's hard to get a good hatch with them.. Especially shipped eggs. I got 2 out of 6 and felt like I hit the lotto! LOL I have another batch of 6 in there now.. from VA too. Great lil babiez! Good luck!

I have 4 Modern Game Bantams pipped.. I can't wait!!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Why are rumpless so difficult to hatch? Is that the ones who lay colored eggs? But no EE?

Newton, AL

I have the first pip, an Orloff! WOOHOOO!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Awesome! I haven't got any orloffs.

Newton, AL

zz good luck to you with your babies! Hope we both hit the jackpot with our VA araucanas..
good question sewing. I don't know why they are hard to hatch. Maybe someone can fill us in. I have never raised any in the bator.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

The tufted Aracauna have a lethal gene.. (it's over my head to scientifically explain it) but a percentage will die in the egg, and a percentage will not hatch.
I do know that breeding a tufted to a tufted is bad news.
I am sure Silkiechick could explain this in terms that make sense.
Aracauna lay blue eggs. So do Ameracauna and EEs. It's confusing.
I hope this helps some!

I got 2 Modern Game.. a black and a Blue.. I'm in love.. The lil blue is the cutest thing ever. Cody has been bugging me for months to get a modern game.. we got the hen at the show.. now she has company.. (when they are big enough) There are 2 more pips..

Did I ever tell you I love blue babiez??????

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

UPDATE InnBetween!!! How is the hatch going???
Thanks for the info ZZ. (I love blue babies toooooo)

Newton, AL

Not so great. I have 2 Orloffs that made it thru the hatch. I don't understand it. the brabanters were all pecking at the eggs last night and even one pipped thru this morning, but they all died in the their shells. I had the humidity up to about 70 and the temp was good, I just dont' get it.
anyway. I have two orloffs.

Newton, AL

forgot their picture. Valentine and Cupid

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh no! So sorry to hear about the brabanters.

Newton, AL

thanks. They just couldn't get out, they got too weak.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh no.. I'm sorry.. That is hard to take.. I'm hatching some and they didn't do well at all..
I did get 4 out of 4 Modern game.. I'm so in love with them!
I have the humidity over 80 and still get sticky ones here and there.
The Dutch Bantams go in next..

I hope all your others do well!!!
