I was in your city in the early eighties for a short time (not Mardi Gras), did the rounds in French Quarter, saw things a girl from a podunk town had never seen before. Had the best coffee, the best food of my life there, let the atmosphere of the place sink into my skin like a dangerous spice. I celebrated my 21st birthday with Flaming Hurricanes and Zombies, while a jazz band swirled notes around my head. The world was still spinning the next morning.
