Pretty much all of my Hoya are now happy, except this one, just sits there looking the same as it did the day I received it. How do you grow yours? Warm/cold? Dry/wet?
How do you grow your H. shepherdii?
Thanks Christine! This is actually a piece I got from you...when? last spring maybe? It's done nothing but sit there...staring at me...mocking me...maybe I'll kick it into the South window for a while.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had problems with this Hoya. I also think mine is cursed. The only time mine started to show some new growth, the cat knocked the plant on to the floor and broke off the new growing tip, and that was it; there it sits. I keep thinking some day it may grow, but I'm not sure I'll be around to see it at this rate. I should also say that it is over two years old.

Mine has put out 1 new leaf in 2 years...looks ok, just dosent grow
It sounds like it just needs to sit for a very long time, before it decides to start actively growing. I will just be very patient.
My H shepherdii came from a trade last spring and it's doing well, just very, very slow in growth! I usually keep it out on my pool deck but we had a few nights of freezing temp's where it got down into the 20's so the hoyas have been inside for about three weeks now. I am slowly moving things back outside and hope we don't have any more cold nights. Next month I am going to begin feeding on a regular basis with a diluted fertilizer to give them a little boost and I'm hoping the shepherdii will start to show some signs of activity!
It's warm and humid here most of the year and so far shepherdii seems to be okay with the conditions. I use a garden hose to spray all of the plants on the pool deck a couple of times a week, during the spring, summer and fall. My Hoyas have been growing dry for the past two months ... I am lazy during the winter months so my plants get neglected and sometimes go four to five weeks without water. I know, I know ... not a good plant mom, but they don't seem to be suffering. They have to be pretty tough plants to put up with me! ^_^
I took this picture this evening of H. shepherdii hanging from the curtain rod in the guest room. It is planted in a small plastic pot that is sitting down inside the plastic hanging basket.
I grew a HUGE H. shepherdii and it did best in very indirect bright light and cooler than most temps. It grew under a huge shade tree. I have the feeling that it likes the same sort of conditions as H. carnosa...and it likes to grow dryish....
