Gran, I'm so glad you got your power back on. I get nervouse when I hear of people who have no power. They have to rely on candles for light and tons of blankets for warmth. I'm afraid of fire from those candles. I sure can't wait for spring.
We are luckier than most-- we heat with wood so didn't feel the chill at all. We have a propane cook stove (which I still keep lighting with a match--DUH) and our water is gravity fed--(no electric well pump) so we have water. I also have kerosene lamps for light. But I know what you mean-- candles make me nervous too. The only thing we didn't have was TV, and plant lights and hot running water since our heater is electric. Once we got the generator (on day 7) the only thing we were without was the hot water heater. We are going to invest in propane on demand water heaters so next time--and there will be a next time --we have hot water.
Thank God you had heat, water and food.As awful as your ordeal was,I am afraid to think about those who may still have no power and didn't think ahead the way you did.
God bless them.

Hi All,
We are supposed to have a big ol' storm tommorow.Lots of wind, but they can't seem to make up their minds if we will get 4-6 inches of snow or 10-14.Guess I'll have to look out the window....LOL.
Even though I don't want to see it,I know it won't be the ordeal Gran and others went through.Thank God!

We certainly hope not!!! good luck-- get a good book!!
I don't really know what to expect.Western Nebraska is getting 2-3 inches of snow an hour. Our major snow is supposed to come this afternoon, but it's already snowing very heavily, but just snow, not windy blizzard conditions. My boss already called and said to stay home,so I get to play today.
