OTHillbilly's Icy Adventure
just amazing,i just can't believe this weather, i'm just so glad you are all ok,
bonnie
Awesome pictures!! I'm glad you are OK.
Doesn't look a bit like Arkansas! Are you sure you didn't get hit on the head by one of those branches and now you are in Oz?
WOW,Mother nature really did a job on you.Hope you get your power back soon.
Gran, are you still glad you decided to move to the 'boonies'? I am so sorry this happened to you. I am not sure I am as tough as you are.
You're right - it DOES look like a tornado went thru!
YEP--I am still happy to be out here^_^ The pictures can't really show the scope of the damage it is so extensive. People in town didn't fare much better--MIL got her power back just yesterday. the only real issue was the road--the county actually showed up with a crew 1 hr AFTER the guys finished clearing it. We try to keep enough supplies on hand just for this possibility--just underestimated the potential damage to the road so were short on beer;)
HG.....glad you survived the storm! Mother Nature can be a real Stone Cold Witch sometimes. LOL
Did you hear the trees cracking and breaking? We had a horrific ice storm here in 98 or 99, can't remember the year. Anyway I woke up in the middle of the night to the the most incredible sound of the trees screaming and breaking. Still sends chills down my spine just thinking about it.
Glad you've got a generator now....being without electricity is the worst.
Rox
Yes-- we heard the trees all day and all night for about 3 days--sounded like gunshots. My animals were all scared to death. Our nerves were pretty raw. My cat--who normally doesn't care about anything except food was on top of her house and screaming in the middle of the night. We watched 1 tree fall downhill & take out another tree and then they both fell into one right behind the house-- if it had fallen straight downhill it would have landed in the middle of the roof--thankfully it fell to the side instead. It was mind boggling.
So glad that you got thru' that ok.
We had a tree fall on our house. Luckily it fell across the corner of the chain link fence where it was supported by both sides, so it didn't make it all the way down to the ground. It kind of rested on the chain link and ended up at a 45 degree angle in our attic. Didn't know that chain link was that strong!!! But if it hadn't been there the tree would have ended up in our livingroom.
We had been having a horrible drought all summer, and tremendous rains all fall. The tree was weakened by the drought, it stood in a small gully and the soil around it was soggy, instead of the tree breaking like the rest of them it pulled right out of the ground.
We've since moved waaayyyy out in the country, and my DH won't let me plant any trees close to the house. LOL He's Tree shy! LOL
It's great that all the trees missed your house. Sounds like there could have been an avalanche of trees coming down that hill. Winter Ice storms are the absolute worst.
I'm going to try to put pic's that my DSIL sent (They are in NW Little Rock)

one more try
All you have to do is fill out the form and join the google photo site just like the other ones...........
Who has to fill out the form? Me or JB? I have seen others' pics on Google w/o signing up.
Gran--any sparks yet?????
It is not saved in a format that Daves uses, and I cannot change it in all of the ways that I have tried.
Day 13 no juice:(
Wow--has any authority contacted you about this?
Oh yeah-- they have no idea when we will get power back. The house above us where our line comes from has had power for 3 days now. But--we are a "secondary line" so we are not a priority. I have every intention of paying my bill with a post dated check for the date we "might" get power. To say I am a little peeved is an understatement. At least with the generator I can have plant lights--about 3 hours in the am and for 5 or 6 hrs in the eve(fridge and freezer too). I have lost a few plants and many long awaited buds have dropped. I spent the days before the generator carrying them to the dining table for a little daylight and back to the shelves at night-- I am so glad i don't have to do that anymore! dh is going back out on the road Weds-- he has spent extra time at home and had hoped we would have power before he left-- but with the generator I am ok--it is just awfully expensive--about $20 a day. Sigh..
Want me to yell at them for you Gran? There are those that say I am very scary! It is a newly acquired skill and I'd like the opportunity to work on perfecting my techniques! Haaaaaaaa!
Guess what-- got power today at 1:30---YAY!!!
WooHoo!!!
Yipeee!
'bout time!!!!
See??...... They were scared of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Job!!!! I'll call you first next time!!! Ahhhhhh the miracle of hot water from a faucet ^_^
HB's Bingo hat must have picked up on your vibes, and forwarded them to the electric company.
that's great news Tommie!
YAAAAAAAY,Gran!
Remind me not to get on the wrong side of Phoebesviolets LOL.
Don't worry Lynn--that side only comes out under EXTREME circumstances! ^_^
