This is one of the golden silk spiders (Nephila spp.) native to Australia - see http://tinyurl.com/ao7xo3

It's Nephila edulis, the Golden Orb Weaver. This is the female. Once she reaches full adulthood the brushes will go from her legs. The male can usually be found somewhere on the edge of the web, he will be significantly smaller than the female. There are often other small spiders, that are a different species, that take advantage of the Nephilas web also.
