Hey, maybe that's the one I saw in Mexico, making its way back up to me! ;)
nice
Duc, your little wren is so cute!
Cb, we have the thrashers in the summer and eat from the feeders and some will try and eat the suet too! I kept trying to get a pic of it but never did.
Nice pics Rose...I had a female Purple Finch(with a cardinal) too today. Have not seen a male yet....and my pic is not a good as yours. LOL
all still enjoyable!
Beautiful pics everyone!
dellrose - that picture looks like it belongs in a book!
Thanks Evie and Pelle! We had sleet and snow last night and the birds are eating like crazy. I had brought the feeders in last night so they wouldn't get clogged and am glad I did. At least it isn't slick so we can get out and walk around. I am going up on the hill to the brush piles to feed those birds...I know their food is covered up and they must be very hungry.
Here is a poor window shot showing the Red-winged Blackbirds and Brown-headed Cowbirds on the feeder. Luckily they just visit in spurts along with the Starlings!
Oh that's so cool that you have the red-winged blackbirds still. I can't wait to hear their call that will signal spring is on the way!
Yes, wonderful photos everyone. Thanks for taking the time to show and tell. There were a dozen or so Red Winged blackbirds in my Ash tree a couple of days ago, only stayed a few minutes, so spring must be on its way. Can't tell from the temp. tho, it was zero yesterday morning, warmed up to 15 degrees. Is still 15 degrees so may snow a bit. there is still lots of crusted snow on the ground and where ever snow is walked on or driven over, it is very slick walking. I only go out to garage and gh, and where shoveled or swept. Too cold to try to go outside to take pictures.

Dellrose, great shot of that orange-tinted finch. I've not seen one here, but another birder friend had one last year. Hope you can get more photos of it. Great photos.
Our Bald Eagles were out yesterday.
duc, that birdbath looks interesting!
so good to see the robins.
Well Rose, that is a sight I don't think I would ever see here in town!!
Awww, that poor little tailess Jay is so cute. Love that fluffy one above it too dellrose. Are the red winged Blackbirds in their winter color? I've only seen them here during the Spring and they're more black? Cute feeder shot!
Great photos, everyone.
Resin, thank you for your answer to "what is oology" . Other than coming from zoology, I was trying to find some other derivation for the word. Anyway, I learned something new !!!
The male 'Hooded Merganser' is really one photogenic bird. Here are a couple of photos taken on Sunday.
For anyone interested, the attached link takes you to a webcam at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on the eastern shore of Maryland. That is where I took some of the photos of the Tundra Swan to open this thread. The eagle is on the nest and has just laid her second egg. She has been a good mother in the past and by the looks of it she is doing a good job protecting the eggs from the snow.

It's from Greek ᾠόν (oon), egg.
Resin
Thanks, Resin. Geez, I've learned two new things. I don't have much more room to store this information !
