Hi,
I have never been a paid member (I'm not sure I knew about that)
and I'm not very savvy with a forum format - but this group is so
active!
I am a member of the Stemma forum (email) which I love, but
I think it maybe doesn't have as much activity. But also a super
group.
I have been looking up information on various hoyas for DL order
and ended up here (surprise!). I think I am going to try and get
plants that will have a 'Northern Hemisphere' frame of mind.
Also, do you think that plants marked "C" would thrive similar to
carnosa which is also a cool climate plant but blooms its' head
off for me all summer here in the deep, humid South.

I'm new here...
hi alison,
nice to meet a fellow hoya luvr, you'll find that a subscription is worth its weight in gold and that there is a wealth of information, great folks and awe inspiring pics here
welcome

Welcome to Dave's Garden's Hoyas forum Alison. It is a lot of fun here, and very informative.
In my opinion, the hoyas marked "C" are marked thus because they "can" tolerate the cooler temperatures, its not that they have to. Other hoyas, designated "W", cannot tolerate cooler temperatures for very long at all. You'd therefore have luck with pretty much any hoya out there.
I'm in Canada and I have a lot of "W" hoyas, I just have to be really careful with them ... and not get too heartbroken if they succumb to what nature intended.
Again welcome, and I look forward to seeing you around.
Christine
Lots of good information here.... Welcome
Carol
Thanks for the replies!
I agree with you Jaci, I can see that the subscription
is going to be worth every penny!
Christine, thanks for giving me a better and more practical
way to look at the temp. info. I am going over DL's list
with a new outlook!
Alison
Just also know that WHEN you water makes a difference in the winter when it is cooler. I wait until the day is going to NOT be cold/overcast and I water in the morning so the soil has a chance to warm up by the late afternoon.
