Germinate in vitro in gelatin or agar what does that mean?

Hi all,
I have some Sago Palm seeds and the germination instructions say what is in the subject line. What does that mean? I have soaked seeds over night and scarified them but thats my experience limit.

Agar is a material that looks somewhat similar to gelatin, it's commonly used in places like microbiology labs for growing bacteria, etc. Gelatin will probably be easier for you to find if you do need to germinate them that way. But I suspect there may be a way to start them the way you would normally start seeds, either with sterilized seed starting mix or vermiculite or perlite. I'd definitely do some searching on the internet or I think there's a palm & cycad forum here where you could ask for advice if nobody on this forum has experience starting them from seed.

Here are a few links to check out but I'm sure there are many more

Thank you ecrane. After reading the articles I believe you are right. Baggies. vemiculite and perlite. Much easier, and I am familiar with these methods.
