Does Anyone have plans to make boxes yourself?

Karen we save those Styrofoam platter shaped flats that come with meat or such..Wash well and set uor gourds ect.on them to keep them off the ground..Drill or punch holes in them for drainage I stack several up & drill with battery operated drill on low speed..We have had good luck with this..

I like it. We have SNAILS here but I know how to get rid of them.

So, D,
SNAILS will attack my watermelons laying on the grass? I have the small ones with little houses on their backs. Not the big obnoxious, EATING kind...a ring of salt around the perimeter out to do it.

Oh Linda you got the cutie pie snails. I have [yech]...slugs. What was I thinking? Slugs not snails; cold, icky, slimey, nasty, beer loving slugs.

I also saw a forum recommeding household ammonia spray where they live.

Freshly ground sea salt and drawn butter.

Ahaa escargot

Karen: I think you are probably right about the soil conditions and such having an influence on the taste of things. My dad used to grow the biggest beef steak tomatoes you ever saw in Ohio, but, since I've moved to Florida, the tomatoes don't taste the same. Same with the corn.
