Hi Wendy,

No, I don't start seeds anymore. I have mostly perennials and the few annuals I use I just purchase.

And unfortunately no greenhouse either. Would love one but no room. You have one?

Stevensville, MT(Zone 4b)

setting up a 6x10 temporary GH to start my vegetable garden seeds....do you have a vegetable garden?

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Not any more. Just a bunch of flower gardens. My gardens were on our city garden walk last year. That was quite an honor!

Stevensville, MT(Zone 4b)

What is your favourite flower? mine is "sedum" cloud walker.....
I live on 5 acres and only have I flower bed so far......do you have pictures of your flower beds you could post...would love to see them.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I am zone 5 in Indiana and don't seem to really fit in anywhere either...

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Boy, I don't know if I could pick a favorite flower or not. I really like lilies, clematis and peonies. Guess those are my 3 favs. I'll post a couple of pictures and if you want to see more let me know.....I don't want to bore anybody.

Nanny, you're surely welcome in the Upper Midwest Gardening forum too!

Stevensville, MT(Zone 4b)

Hi 2 nanny and magnolialover... Do you flower/vegetable garden? Do you have a greenhouse?
goldfinch....I'm very envious of your flower gardens, just what I'm hoping to do at our place...how do you care for your clematis, are they in full sun?

Columbia, MO(Zone 5b)

Goldfinch, your gardens are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing them with us.

I live right in the middle of the USA. We are definately the frozen tundra right now. This is always about the time of the year I want to move south.

Wendyloo66, nice to meet you! I am sure you will have a great time on DG. If you want to you can add your hardiness zone under preferences.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Goldfinch, beautiful!! I could use your help at mt my house...LOL

hmmm....I don't take big wide shots of things it seems! I have only lived here 2 years this month and everything here I planted. There was nothing when we moved here.

Nanny, your gardens are very pretty. I like daylilies too but don't have as many as some other perennials. I will check out the daylily forum. Just promise you won't add that as another plant addiction for me! There were no gardens here either when we moved in, but we've been here close to 20 years now.

Magnolialover, my gardens are never weed free. I just try to pull them before they get as big as my plants :).....although sometimes it seems like a loosing battle! As far as being organized I look at other people's beautiful gardens and think mine looks like a circus. I'm great at buying plants I like and then having to find a place to put them. Unfortunately I'm running out of room and not sure I want to add any more gardens at this point.

Wendy, nearly all of my clematis are in full sun. They are one of those plants that some people are afraid to grow because they think they're tricky. I was one of those people too LOL. But they really aren't any more difficult than anything else if you take extra care when you first plant them. My neighbor gave me one quite a few years ago and when I saw how easy they were I got all carried away with them. There is a great Clematis forum on DG too.

Stevensville, MT(Zone 4b)

Welcome mainicoon....tell us about your gardens....snowed here last night, about an inch...

Beautiful garden nanny!! very envious...

I would like advice for the north side of my house. It has no street appeal, will try 2 post a picture. I have 1 flower garden so far......we are on 5 acres....need to start landscaping. Have planted about 40 trees but they are small.....

thanx golfinch, I will move my clematis to the back deck for more sun....

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Wendy, another small addiction I have is hostas...I don't have any pics of them. They are a must have and there is such a variety of tyrpes, shapes and colors!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Goldfinch4, your lilies are so full and gorgeous! That whole bed is one of my favorite combos! Love the front corner of your house too! What did you use for containers? The heucheras are beautiful too. I love the ''short'' plant selection. The garage bed is so full and full of color too! The back fence is gorgeous! Love the clematis. I see you like blue flowers too. No wonder you were on city gardenwalk!

Wendyloo66, 5 acres! What I would do with that much room!

Magnolialover, Tetleytuna, frozen tundra here too. 12* and it was snowing all morning. Hey, the sun just came out!!

Nanny56, daylilies are my weakness with phlox, lilies, iris and all blue flowers. I love your beds too! What is the tall white and pink lily?

Goldfinch, you are singing my song :o) I decided not to buy much of anything this year and work on moving and dividing what I have. My beds need a serious work over. Your beds are perfect for color and form!

Wendyloo, at least 1 Bleeding heart, dicentra spectibles will make the north wall spectacular in the spring. Varigated hostas look good and will bloom too. Solomans Seal gets tall and curves over smaller plants. The bumble bees really like mine.

North Peony Bed, with phlox, daylilies, liatris and oriental lilies to name a few. This was taken the day after straight line winds.

Ooooo, such pretty iris!! I have yet to get any except for for cute little mini purple ones I have...and they have not bloomed yet.....

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi Billy,

Your gardens are beautiful too! Love the iris. I've had just horrible problems with iris borers the last 5 years or so - I've lost lots of mine. Your bleeding hearts look perfect. You've got lots of nice color.

The containers in the front corner are hypertufa planters. To the left side in that same picture I have a sempervivum bed. I make the planters and put semps in them. Here's a few close ups.

We got the same snow but 2 inches here and some high winds in my area, pretty cold out, and last week people were out riding there motorcycles.

I still trying to get my garden going after moving 1,200 different irises up from Sheridan , Wyoming, have to plow up more land and add raise beds.

The rose bushes that were here died out, so will remove and replant. Hoping my hens/chicks will make it thought winter.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

The computer kept booting me off yesterday. I finally gave up and quit trying to get on.

Nanny, thanks! A neighbor gave me a some of her 12'' tall iris and now I want more of them too! I also have a red-purple and a deep blue- purple 4'' border iris. I love all of them!

Goldfinch4, I've never tried to make planters. I don't use them around here, prefering to plant in the ground. Your's turned out very nice and look good in your photos. It's neat to have a cheap way to make similar looking pots. I get the iris borers too. I sprinkled all of them with Bayer's borer control, with the ingredient imicloprid, after I dug and divided. I will sprinkle it early this spring too since they hatch in March. It's systemic and I think it really helps. Your semps are beautiful! They really like where they are! My SIL gave me a few green ones, but there are more colors than I knew about.

Mainecoon, I bow down to you. I only have about 44 iris. I'll bet it's a rainbow when they all bloom!! How wonderful to start a new bed for all of them. That's too bad about the roses. Is it colder in Montana than Wyoming?

I need to make a list of the flowers I need to move this year. I have iris, daylilies and balloon flowers in the garden. They don't take up much room now, but I need all the garden space for garden.

Edited for spelling

Wow, I can't imagine trying to move 1,200 iris - what a project!

I'll have to look for the Bayer's borer control. Thanks for the tip.
