It's a Ladybird beetle pupa (ladybug, lady beetle). Don't know what kind, though.

Hmmm. I did a search of both and I looked for a while for a picture that matched mine. Quite honestly I have a ton of ladybugs around here and don't grow potato's, so I was a little biased going in ;-). But, I did find a picture finally that seemed to match mine. What do you both think. They are of the Colorado Potato Beetle larva. I looked in BugFiles and there aren't any pictures, so if there is a positive ID, I'd like to put it there. Thanks for you expertise!

Having lived as long as I have, I'm somewhat leery of being 100% certain on just about anything. That aside, I am reasonably certain that yours is a potato beetle larva (they will feed on many other solanaceous plants besides potatoes). Look-alike species include the false potato beetle (Leptinotarsa juncta; see http://tinyurl.com/9kvtyu) and the swamp milkweed beetle (Labidomera clivicollis; see http://tinyurl.com/9ujsv3).

I'll mark it solved. Thank You Claypa and Suunto for your input. Suunto, I didn't realize that tobacco flower and petunias were a part of that family. That's right where I found that little bugger!:-) Thanks again, Andrea
