The same yard today!
The "frosty stuff"
I'm confused, Shelly. Where are you looking from?
a house that I do landscaping at. Just on the outskirts of springfield city limits.
Okay. So how many miles from that house to yours? Is it south or north of your place?
It's about 65mi. between houses because I cant just drive right over that mountain (well, during the summer I could but it would take hours), I have to drive around it it. The valley below the house where I'm taking the picture is for the Mohawk valley/McKenzie river. Once on the other side of that ridge, it's the Willamette Valley, which is the majority of my drive. I just thought that the picture showed how quick and easy it is to from good weather to foul weather in a relatively short distance.
Different day, you could likely spot Sally's place since you can see the bottom of mt. Pisgah here. Anyhow. the two valleys are very clear here where they split, the very begining of the mohawk valley running under me and, traveling into the sun, is the willamette valley. You can see Interstate 5 in this pic.---look for the only 6 lane Rd :-p . One side of it is Springfield the other is Eugene! follow I5 for a while... into the bright spot, then catch the hwy that takes you up the other side of those mountains to get to my place.
I'm very curious Sally.... can you see your place here? or at least really close to it?

So, did I clear anything up Katie? Or did I make it all muddier? What I like about all 3 of those "broadview" pictures is that you can see multiple weather things going on in each picture!
Sure..... I'm behind the trees. LOL We're 1 mi off Interstate 5 on the Springfield side. Nice pictures!! I was going to get some violas or something in town today (had to get more vinyl for the shelves) but it was just too nasty. Rain and hail pretty much all afternoon. Never really heavy, just wet and cold.
Yep, I agree! It wasn't a pleasant day to be working there. But, that's all right. Yesterday was great there. The picture up above of the black mondo grass.... it looks like snow, but it's actually hail that's starting to melt.
I figured as much, looked like hail.
Do you think that I described locations and markers right? Or anything you want to add. The freeway part is a little misleadling because it looks like it continues straight there, but it doesn't, it turns left around the mountains, instead of heading straight 'into the light'!
You can see the freeway start the turn. What is the white square in the middle?
You know, I really don't know. I should ask the owners there what it is. It sort of looks like some sort of sanitation plant, but that's a guess out of thin air based solely on the square ponds by it.
I was thinking treatment plant, don't know why though.
that's quite likely what it is. If you look at those ponds closely, you can tell that they were made there.
yep, like the ones that used to be on 30th ave by LCC. Not sure what they're doing with those now.
The beauty of the PNW; it is hard to explain if you have never seen it before. I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world. I'm an hour from the ocean, 1 and a 1/2 from the snow covered mountains and 2 and a 1/2 hours from the desert of eastern WA, what more could a girl want? Great pics as usual RC! Hope you stayed warm and dry with all of the hail coming down.
I agree completely Rachel! you pretty muched summed the speech that I give every time people ask me "why do you live out there"? I just say that i'm no more than two hours from every type of climate and recreational activity possible! Why live anywhere else? Thanks, I'm glad that you liked the pics. The one taken on the day with the pink sunset was with a fun saver camera.... a little over a year ago. Even though that's really not a "good" picture, I like it just the same becuase you can still see the weather that the PNWest is so well known for, it's raining in one part of the pic, then a mile away the sun's shining a little, and overcast a mile from there.
Like my mom always says....."you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes"
Gardner, I love the pics. Your goats look far more friendly than the one that stayed with the dogs a few months ago. I just love the first pic of your last group. There's something about that tree in the pond that draws my attention. Don't know what it is, but it's sure cool! I will have to look for those treats at Costco. Do they make cat treats as well? It sounds like something one of my cats would just go crazy for.
That's for certain Sally! and people wonder why I always have so many clothes in my car!!
Never hurts to throw a warm coat in the back....just in case.
yep!
