Lurked, liked and was hooked

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I think I'm going to love this gathering of garden friends and neighbours. Please note I am not too bright when it comes to computers and instructions and right now I am pretty bewildered. Had a nasty experience with another web but don't think that will happen here. You people are too nice! So - I am so glad to be here - I felt lost for a while. I'm English, been in the States for a couple of years and will be moving into brand new cottage on virgin, forested land in May and I will probably be begging for plant material :-) Glad to meet you all!

Welcome Louisa,.. from Southern Calif. It sounds like you are going to have alot of fun planting all new things and you do live in an area that can grow almost everything. Let us all know when your ready for some seeds or plants to get you started, I'll be glad to send you something from the West Coast.

Hi Louisa! I'm a Brit too! We've had the most glorious spring day here. My neighbours have all been out walking their dogs and washing their cars. Our snowdrops are in full bloom over here. And crocuses started as well. The cottage sounds interesting.

Hi Louisa,
I'm new here, too - in DG that is. So far it has been a most rewarding experience! We'll talk, I'm sure,

Thankyou so much for that warm welcome. I really do feel that I am amongst friends at last and have found my 'niche'. Can you please explain the 'private' page to me and do you all 'expose' yourselves? In the nicest possible way, of course...lol

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

YOur 'private' page is where you can log your seed, plant, tree, ect. inventory, but no one else can see it.
For example, my trade list is private, as is my journal, but Dave's is public. The only reason mine is private is because Dave made such a nice program I use it for more than just plants, so I keep it private. A good reason to make it public is so people can see what you have, what you are growing, and what you have that you might be willing to trade. In order to make it public for all to see, simply click on "Your list is currently private, to make it public, click here". Hope this clears it up, if not, ask!

Welcome, Louisa! I hope you will feel welcome and at home at Dave's Garden. This a wonderful group of people-more like family really-and a web site for just visiting, garden and farm talk, swapping, etc. You can talk about your problems and good times and no one will put you down. Please be a frequent poster wherever you feel comfortable.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

leaflady - thankyou for those kind words. Are you a mind reader, or what? I WAS put down on GW by a nasty, vindictive human being! I hope none of that sort infiltrates this friendly and warm site.

Middlesbrough, United Kingdom

Hi Louisa! I'm so sorry you had a bad time with GW. I've been Disneyed a couple of times there. Hadn't had much in the way of problems from my fellow posters though. Most of them are really nice; the reason why I haven't jumped ship yet. I really like DG though, Dave and Trish are ever so helpful even if Dave WAS mystified why I couldn't pick up how to edit. Got it worked out now though thanks to Dave's advice. It's great having that personal touch.
