reducing photos for email

I know there is a way to reduce photos for sending through the email but for some reason I can't find it or remember how to do it. Must be a senior moment because I have done it before. Can some one please explain it to me.

in your photo editing program you can resize them

You can upload them to snapfish,which is a free site, it automatically resizes them so that you can send them from their site.
