Found 1 of these in my dad's urinal, and then the one here in a cup later. I haven't seen this kind of spider in my house before ~ 2 weeks ago, so I'd be interested to find out what it is if anyone could help me with identifying it.
This is in southern minnesota btw.
CLOSED: An odd kind of spider in the house (maybe?)
This appears to be a running sac spider (family Miturgidae) in the genus Cheiracanthium. Formerly placed in the family Clubionidae, these spiders often are found indoors, especially in upper corners of rooms. They will bite readily if picked up and handled, or if accidentally pressed against skin, such as while one is in bed. There are reports that the venom of at least some of these spiders can cause slow-healing skin lesions, but this is not conclusive - see http://tinyurl.com/8b4nl5 for more information.
Cool, thanks for the info, was interesting to hear about it.
