Poetry on the pile 09.

Very nice!!!!!

See, Kyla?
Way to go Sof - you're painting with words again - love it!!!

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Yes! I see we have primed the pump.

Here is one that I might title "Word Composting":

The toy that has a different head
collects my words, you see.
He takes them down a long dark hall --
at least, it's dark to me.

I don't know where he takes them then,
or why, or what they do,
but when he sends them back to me
they're quite a different crew.

I arrange them all upon the page
and watch them limp and glow,
and wonder what they're all about,
and if I'll ever know.

I need to use that one when I stick my foot in my mouth oh yeah and when I get even more confused. I like the thoughts.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Kayla I'm going to try your type of thought filled poetry. Be kind.

Walking today was easy,
Living was too
But planning confused me
And I think those around
We think behind a curtain
but talk over a loud speaker
standing on a stage
It would be safer to talk behind a wall
and think in Central Park.

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, I don't find much point in being anything but kind, Sofer........ and I like your poem, especially the end, where it goes.....

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

And Gitagal, I will go read the previous threads, promise. Just, the moment for that has not arrived. But soon.

Bumping this Thread....... Where did all the Poets go?????

With all this warmer Spring weather, we should have a lot to croon over!
Lets get our brains back to Poetry.......

Ahem........

It is cold--then it is hot
Should I plant-or should I not?
I dig and dig--and hit the frost,
No planting today--
Or all will be lost.....

Saw a Robin the other day!
And my heart begun to sway.....
Could Spring be truly on it's way?
The weather-man said--Oh--NO WAY!

When March comes--the Lion rules
The weather warms--the weather cools;
The sun may shine--the buds may grow
But the Lamb refuses his face to show.

But I am stubborn--that I know
And many a seed I start to sow.
Under my lights they soon will grow--
Their pretty faces soon to show.

OK! Lets have some more "ditties" here...
WHY did this Thread just "crumble"????? I ask--because I am so humble.....

Gita

Well done to the one
who took time to have fun.
to make verse when all is perverse
I am locked in when the snow
around me just continues to grow.
The grass is not green
the roads are not clean
I am distressed because all is a mess.
Gita you seem thrilled
because we are all chilled
Up north the sun only shines
after a woesome blizzard blinds.
I can only wait for the spring to break
and my life gets full from the soil below.

OH--Soferdig---I have always wandered if you are male or female???????? It might help me to "relate" to you more.....
Like--I have found that women thrive more on the emotional level.............
And, then, I am always touched when I find that men do so as well.....
Bare your soul--"Soferdig"......Who art Thou??????

*******************************

OK! My mind is, once again, in a "ditty" mode.......I want to keep this going......

*******************************

We had Winter--we had "Spring"....
Whatever four days of it will bring???
My hopes soared high-but they were nigh
As the forecast is for snow come Fri (..day)...

March--I hate you!... for the games you play!
You are the one who has the "say"....
Cold and warm--warm and cold,
I bet you love being--Oh, so bold!

Your days are numbered! that I know,
For April will soon claim the "show"
YOU will die!!!--a slow, slow death
As you gasp for your last breath.

Then comes May--with colors galore!
OH! How I love it's Springtime show!
And you, March, will hit the floor!
You will be banished to the Earth below;
To wait a year before you show---
Your face again---covered in snow.

You toy with us--so full of glee
But just wait--and you will see!
That Spring will own you--that I know
It's amazing colors it will show.

Be gone! Lion!--Be Gone Lamb!
March--give up your stand!
Go away---to a far-off land!
Where frost and snow have the stand.
And ice is always on the sea
And--that is all you'll ever see

And then----a flower blooms......
And everything becomes irrelevant....

Gita

Ahh I thought you would know by my Right brain and left is that I am a Man. LOL
I protest only your view on march for it is this energy that makes us alive.

March, my friend, please stay here
your varied state is always unclear
But yet I stand in wind and cold
to feel the end of winter unfold
I wish for warmth and snow to melt
waiting to see what next to be dealt
I know in my past that you are kind
and expect your end to be so sublime
The lion the lamb is not to fear
Whatever you throw I shall endear.

Okay, I've got a meager offering for the pile. I tried to do rhyming quartets with 7 syllables per line except for the last couplet which should be 11 syllables each line. I don't normally write this way but I thought it would be fun to try.

Winter has hurried its walk
And marches to spring at last.
We have moved forward the clock -
It’s as if more days have passed.

I drive home with sun now high,
Stretching my unused green thumbs --
Hopeful that this spring is nigh
Since Robins now feast on crumbs.

I’m anxious and impatient.
I’m thirsty for orange blossoms.
I’m hungry for lemon scent.
Oh, let March be when spring comes.

Let new warmth melt Mountain snow
Filling streams with ice water
And painting land green below --
A slow goodbye to winter.

We need seasons to linger and give us pause –
But I simply cannot wait as winter thaws.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Full of emotion and has the feelings we all have now. Soon to leave the snow and get into the grow.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sox! That was really nice!!!!

We all share those feelings this time of year.....Inpatient for that which we will hate in just a few months---
Endless heat and humidity and NO rain!!!!

Ahhh--The cycle of life.....

BUMP-----

Now that it IS hot and humid and sticky--maybe a new genre of poetry will flow forth.
Come on, everyone! let's keep this going!!! It is too much fun!

Ahem--seems I need to be the first to contribute a ditty again. Will do!

It is so hot!
Work I do not!
I sit all lazy
in my cool home and cozy
While my Garden goes to pot.

Possible showers--
Every day--they say!
The sky is cloudy
The rumbles are rowdy
But nothing comes my way.

My flowers all sway
my grass is yellow...
My water bill climbs
as I water all day...
But--I try to stay mellow.

Fall is near
The time I hold dear.
Cause the air cools down
I no longer frown--
Nothing left to fear!

Seeds I gather
Sort-sort-sort!
Fill the baggies to the top.
Photos I take
And lists I make
To get ready for the next Seed Swap.

Weather is now, like sweat on my brow
The rain has falling, as you have been calling
Moisture filled all of our region
When winter chilled our winter season
Montana is rich with mountains above
Rich with God's caring and love
We unlike you have glaciers releasing
Water you crave when yours is decreasing.

WOW!!! I think I, somehow, missed Poetry on a pile 09 all together! ????
I just read the WHOLE Post! Some serious writing here....sharpen your minds to
understand some of it.
This is full of deep and deeper poems and prose and writing than all the others.
No frivolous limericks.

It is now March 25, 2016. I am still trying to resurrect all 3 parts of this wonderful
literary collection. I hold on to every entry like it was a dog on a loose leash.
Not letting it go! Don't want to lose it....

DG has changed. Not much, we all knew it to be, is left. I miss it so...I like familiarity...
We now gather on ATP (All Things Plants) as our new home. Oh, Dave created it
and runs it...along with his wife Trish. Everything works on ATP. No glitches.
That is comforting. There is also NO fee--it is totally FREE!
Should any of you come across this Post--please add something so I know it still "works'.

Thanks for all your lovely poems and prose. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Gita,
Yes, things have changed--a lot!
This & the other Poetry on the Pile threads are worth reading again. I PDF'd them when I left DG for other sites, back in 2010. But I still return here to revisit many of the old threads as there was a wealth of useful information, great gardening-life humour & an incredible sense of community. Quite challenging to replace...
Hope your investment of gardening efforts brings happiness & growth beyond your expectations. That is a wish that will never change for all those who delight in working the soil!
See you at ATP,
K
