The national gesneriad convention information is out and I want to register soon. Has anyone ever been and anyone planning on going. This will be my first time and I need to know if there is any advice....do's and don't s ? Thanks so much! tish

ive been to 2,well theres a lot of things to do,bring lots of money,attend all the classes you can,bring lots of film or if your digital lots of memory cards,go to the internet meeting
so we can meet you,and most important,have a blast,i know i did,
how long are you plnning on being there,ill probally be helping out in the sales room,ive got a few freinds in there that want help ,

I don't know how long I'll be there. My dad lives in Md, so it's about an hour away, so that will save a lot of $$ that I can spend on plants. Right now I'm planning on bringing a friend, so it also depends on how long she can be gone. tish

Lin - You're thinking of the AVSA convention in Reno. I think the convention in question is the Gesneriad Society convention in Silver Spring, MD in June/July . . . http://www.gesneriadsociety.org/chapters/events.htm
The Begonia society convention is in Fl this year--that one is too far for me too. I would love to go to all three-- too bad I'm not rich instead of so darn good lookin' (ROFLOL)

I would love to meet all who are going, as I will be attending as well. It's too close for me not to go. I just joined the Gesneriad Society and would love to attend the internet meetings too.
P.S. I'm setting aside a plant fund now so that I have some decent money to spend when I get there!
Does the society book a block of rooms with a discount or are we on our own to get a hotel room?

ill work on a picture this weekend,i got all of it cut and put away,there is some great stuff there,got plants of hand painted and musuem of art,snowkist splish splash(which im grateful for ) and lots of leaves,even got to go to the violet showcase,hes got some cool stuff,i even bought a plant there and reliesed it was too big to take home sooo
i brought cuttings home and left it with my freinds,its pretty too,its an ogleevee

well i went there to meet up with my son,he was visiting mom in ohio and i had to go get him,anyway i had several hours to kill and wanted to see some freinds ,i also took stuff too, she was happy.

The convention is 5 days long. what happens each day? does the last day end early? Is there a schedule out?
do you register for the convention if you are just going to visit, not enter a plant?

Sure! I will take plant request too! I hope to meet jim & anyone else from DG & the Yahoo group. Maybe they will have a bulletin board or somewhere so that we cant find other internet people! I am excited about meeting folks in person!
im not gonna get to go this year,work doenst want to let us have vacation this year
and beths job went away,lets say she got in trouble for coming to see me,even though
she had her shifts covered,her boss quit earlier in the week and,they went though and got rid of Everyone that worked there and have a whole new crew flying out of there,
I know i wont be flying on great lakes anymore

I am back around and I have taken a look at the The Gesneriad Convention And I am hoping to go to the one here in Lake County IL. on March 14-16 and get some plants . I thought that mrsbonnie was going and I sure wood like to meet her is there any one else that is going to the one in IL.Its not far from my house about 10 miles give or take I wood be my Real first one I went to one but it was in a mall and by the time I got there There was only about4 plants left So this will be very exciting
